I did look at the blueoval website...but that was it. No knowing what she is really going to do with the Mustang....I am not one to be buying accessories and then have her sell it.

I personally would not put a fake hood scoop on a car, even if it was factory....makes me cringe to see a fake scoop. But each their own.

When I bought my '10 GT Premium a year ago, a non functioning cosmetic factory hood scoop was a factor for selecting the car.
It wasn't the only reason but it helped influence the pick.
It's appearance reminded me of the '69 Boss 429 hood which was one of my all time favorite cars.

The fake hood scoop on your 2010 looks good. It definitely has a phycological effect...when the car in front of you at the red light looks in his rear view mirror.

The hardest part of having a clean engine bay is getting it clean, especially if it has been 'let go'. Depending on how bad it is you might have to take a trip to your local 'DIY' carwash. I make it a habit not to take my electronic cars there because I don't believe water is good for them. You can take precautions to minimize problems by taking plastic shipping bags with you and wrapping them around any electronics (ECM, fuse box). Once you get it clean you can keep it clean using a bucket of soapy water and a wide paint brush at intervals (once a week, once a month, etc). Rinse with clear water and use detailer and a rag to dry. Spray wax will make it easier to keep it clean, just try to stay away from electronics (I've said that before, haven't I?). Check out some Youtube videos on how to detail underhood. I live on a dirt road so I don't use any greasy or oily rubber preservatives. Back To Black works well because it dries and isn't oily. This is my 29K (when I purchased it) GT/CS and my 2.6K 2012 Boss 302 (and my '72 Camaro 454). Remember, it's easier to keep them clean then it is to get them clean. Hope that helps.

If this Mustang were mine I would get it clean, well, it would never have gotten this dirty in the first place. But this is the daughter's and she just does not have the time or drive to clean the engine bay. I am not going to clean it either, waste of my energy. When it goes back to her, she will have a newborn son and I doubt that the garage will have been organized so that her "mom" vehicle and the Mustang can both fit, so the Mustang will again sit in the driveway, at least it will be under a car cover this time.

If my 3rd bay were deeper, I would have this Mustang as mine.

I think the Ford plastic intake covers were only fitted from 2007 onwards to the GT Premium and California Special. Mine obviously didn't have one and I chose to go aftermarket with the prettier looking BBK.

That running pony, powers by ford manifold cover was stock on my 2010 GT standard. Also had the silly ass sound tube and the factory cold air inlet.

I'd cleaned and reoiled it just before I took that photo. Fortunately I don't have to clean it as often since I moved to Cyprus. When I lived in the UAE, I had to rinse it out every few months 'cause the atmosphere was much dustier.

My Two Cents, when I got my 07 GT she had been driven nearly to death but had been only lighlty maintenanced i.e.: oil, brakes ,tires those type of things. The entire suspension was gone I mean rides like a stage coach gone, it took time and my labor but I replaced it all and with better parts then the stock ones. I then turned to upgrade the interior, ieL shelby leather seat covers,TCI street fighter shifter, carbon fiber dash GT599 acentra/leather steering wheel. I then moved onto the Brakes rotors, tires and wheel. Then to the paint haveing the old cracked and faded stiped removed which rewuired sanding and repainting. They followed that up with the clear bra on the front and around the windshield and the ceramic coating of the whole car. Then came time for the engine bay which was filthy from years of neglect it had dirt and grim ground into every surface. I try everything to get it clean engine cleaners, car washes ( you known the kind with a DTY gun) I even bought one of those steam machines but even that would get it clean I mean really clean. Finally I had to give in and take it to a detail shop that offered engine cleaning and while I'm not sure how or what they use they got her clean. I have since moded the engine bay a little bit and I'm now trying to decide on my next mod maybe a GT500 rear spoiler or and chin spoiler.
