What have you done to your mustang today?

Looks great, was on their website yesterday. First I had heard of them before. The mounting is what I am curious about. If it's going back in the valley then fine, but mine being moved and backwards not sure. I need more due to larger fan, fuel pumps among a few other things. I definitely don't need 270 amps. The stock Denso will do fine for me but like that you can order that J2FAB powder coated. Those wires a beefy. Look forward to your install.

The GT500 alternator sits low on the driver side of the engine, not on top like the 4.6
Gonna be a little interesting to do, the front sway bar needs to be swung down.
Didn't get it done yet, I think I've been dealing with some food poisoning the last couple days, just starting to feel ok again.
Planning this for next weekend now

I actually started the swap today.
Got the new alternator in, had to do a slight modification to a harness down below so it would reach the different location of the plug on the new alternator, got the sway bar and a few other things reconnected, and the belt is back on.
Have to replace the factory cables next, and I want to take my time with that and run it in the factory location, secure them in the factory spots, and try to make them look as "factory" as possible.
So I will tackle that another day, hopefully tomorrow.
Was surprised to see the new unit is smaller, was unpleasantly surprised at the modification needed at the bottom harness.
No instructions in the box. "Here's your parts, figure it out" - J2Fab could improve on this a bunch.









Have to do some of the work from above, some from below. Bunch of stuff in the way

Thanks and technically they're the wife's since it's her car, but yeah, they're supposed to match the Vista Blue of the stripes, they're the same color as the TVS.

Started removing the GT500's factory cable going from the battery to the alternator. Had to open up a factory harness and pull out that thin cable. Getting ready now to install the new thicker J2Fabrication cable.
This part is more tedious and much more of a pain in the ass than swapping out the alternator itself. That seems like a piece of cake at this point, lol

Working on installing Roush upper/lower high-flow grills and the Roush fog light relocation kit and upgrading the lamps to Diode-Dynamics SL1 lamps.

Also cleaning up some wiring to the cooling-fan resistor connector and securing an inner- fender well that's flopping around a little.

Cleaned the air filter yesterday and rolled 87k today.

Made some progress on the wiring project on the Shelby.
Battery spun around.
New red and black terminals.
New ground cable run and secured.
Long ground cable freed from the factory battery terminal and attached to the new terminal.
New positive cable to the fuse box run and secured, wrapped in electrical tape so it doesn't stick out like a red sore thumb.
Cable from the starter got a new crimp terminal, got covered in black loom and electrical tape for the section that's visible until it gets into the large factory loom.
Only thing that's left to do is add a bunch of electrical tape to re-wrap the large factory loom that I opened up, and run/secure the new long cable to the alternator.
My hands are a little too big for that tight space, might see if the wife wants to work on her car a little bit LMAO

Switched the tail light bulbs to LED in the S197 (pics after dark) then installed Aerocatch latches and a Motion Raceworks catch can in the track day car.

Today I finished the rewiring project on my wife's Shelby, part of the alternator-replacement project.
J2Fabrication 185A alt with their big cable kit.
I didn't use their battery terminal, I bought 2 new terminals, black and red set, so I could more easily reattach the factory long ground cable and the factory starter cable.
New thick cables for negative (run to the factory ground bolt on the shock tower) and positive from battery to alternator, with a large 225A inline fuse.
Tried to make it as "factory" as possible, so the old wiring got removed and the new stuff got wrapped in black almost all the way to the alternator. Did that so the red wouldn't stick out like a sore thumb, lol.
Quite happy with the end result, and whereas the old alternator was putting out 12.2 V at idle, the new one is a rock-steady 14.25 with all the lights on

He'll of a project boss! [emoji38]. It looked like a lot of work to install the alternator, but I'd agree the wiring is a PITA. at to make it look nice that is.

Thanks guys. It was a battle and I'm happy to say I won

The only thing that would've made it look better is if I used Tesa tape instead of electrical tape to do the wrapping, but the Tesa tape roll is a good bit larger than the small roll of electrical tape I used, especially in the tight area in-between the shock tower and the engine.
Oh well, it is what it is.

Fed it some fuel and had a coworker tell me his stock 17 GT would roast my car. He is in for a rude awakening :-D
