Hi,

I looked for the solution to my problem, the only thing I've got is people having the DTE code when installing the pump....

My problem is different:

The harness came with the blue and green wire at the level sender (instead of red and black like in the instructions).
I red that if it doesn;t work one way then it will work when you switch the wires around.

No matter how I connect the split wires from the car harness (blue/yellow and green/violet) with the GT500 harness (green to green and blue to blue of the other way around) I cannot get the fuel gauge to read anything else then low (0).

No DTE code, it just shows that the fuel level is to 0 (low fuel, 0 miles to go warning)

Any ideeas ?

when brenspeed did my install, they said that when the tank gets below 1/2 tank. it can drop to 0,

they said to switch the wires

this happened on the way home from their shop, i switched the wires, now it does it when it's just below a 1/4 tank

??????

it'll start out at like 5 to e then down to 0 and then keep going

Is your actual fuel level low?...

If not its the float, they are easy to damage.

I had the same problem I reverse the wires and it was fine. It says DTE FUEL LEVEL ERROR right? The wires on the gt 500 kit are wrong and so are the instructions. Simply unplug the ones you put into that plug they provide and swtich them then plug it back in and start the car up. After you do that reflash the computer.

I actually filled up the tank, still low fuel 0...no DTE error.
I'll take out the pumps today (damn) and check the level sender...
The problem is with the VM I cannot take any reading between the two wires of the sender...is plain 10ohms rezistance...it doesn't vary at all...

honolulu Hi
was it broken or .... ?

Some how when I put it in the arm got stuck in the down position. Pulled the pumps, and reinstalled making sure to check that the arm was now free to move without getting caught on anything as I reinstalled it.. havn't had a problem since. good luck with yours

the first time it dropped off on the way home, i had a little under a half tank.

i drove about 20-25 more miles, and then the car started bucking and had no power, i thought it could be fuel.

Pulled into a station immediately and the car was fine.

Got home, switched the wires, Now it only goes to 0 at below a 1/4.

My concern i guess is that once the gauge drops, is it maybe only getting fuel from one of the pumps? Or, is it only getting fuel from one of the pumps all the time?

Is there a way to know for sure that both pumps are working all the time?

My float was F'ed up too..not sure how, but you can measure the ohms with a meter and see the values change as you raise the float. I swapped it from another stock unit and it worked for a few days. now the thing reads way past Full. I'm hoping its just because I didnt have that teflon coating for the connectors.. This sunday I will pull it back out and test again and use some teflon.

I'm suprised to read about all these fuel level issues. I have the GT500 pumps in my car and yesterday I ran it down to the "E" line and it still had good readings telling me I had 19 miles till empty.

Guess I'll have to just hope that it keeps working and doesn't develop any issues.

I uninstalled the pumps today...the hose to the passenger side tank came loose, now it's fixed, so I think everything should be ok

There are so many people that have problems with these GT500 pumps after they put them in.

and theres alot of people who dont!:naughty1:

your not going to hear about all the succesfull installs, mostly just people who have problems.

i personally had this issue and switched the wires around. about the float....if you try to install the pump straight in then your float arm will get huing up, you have to install the pump sideways and then twist it once the pump gets down far enough to twist.

^ have you swapped your signal wires?
My gauge would only read 3/4 when I filled it up.
Around that 1/2 tank mark things would get weird.
It would drop to 0, up to a 1/4 back to 0..........etc.
Anyway those were my symptoms, swapped wires and all is well.
If you have, maybe the float arm is bent?
