Well, we added American Racing headers to the car this weekend. We opted for the catted version and fit was great. We have it hooked up to a custom 3” Dynomax cat back and WOW, IT'S LOUD! We will be welding on the stock mufflers next week.

With no tune changes made we backed it on the dyno to see if all the hype was true.
Well it is, we picked up as much as 25 RWHP @ 6600rpm through ARH cats for a total of 415+ RWHP. Another local 5.0 gained 27 without cats through an auto. These things work!

I hope to get to the track Friday, so we’ll see what it does.
First graph is final numbers, 2nd is before and after. Before being JLT proto type, tune and 3" cat back.

Not bad

I haven't had time to make the tune adjustment for the widebands and O2's, plus haven't put many miles on it to throw a code.
I'm sure a CEL is coming, but I'll fix that before it happens.

Tweek the tune a tad for more? I'll give it a shot.

Great Numbers! car sounded sick too!

Just curious, is installing long tubes on the 5.0 about the same "difficulty/hour wise" as the 3v install?

So much for that whole, "The motor/headers are maxed out from the factory" bullshit, huh?

Another 10 more rwhp and that's 500 at the engine, assuming 15% DL. ;)
My 08 GT500 dynoed 441 stock, so this is only 25 from that. I have had a GT500 in here dyno 398...

5 hours with a lift, still sux

A friend dynoed his 2011 GT500 last night on the same dyno and made 456 stock. That's only 40 off from our 5.0:wow:

Pretty crazy stuff.

Was there something wrong with the GT500 that dynod 398? Running on 6 cyl perhaps? :roflmao: Perhaps it was just hot out and heat soaked like a mofo...

wow!

I'm impressed now for sure.. 22rwhp peak to peak is a big difference consindering no tuning changes, and that car already had a mid length design header, and didn't ya'll get rid of the cats?

also - where these the 1 3/4" or 1 7/8" headers?

I'm also curious, was this headers alone? Or was this headers and X pipe replacing all stock components?
