I would be willing to bet that every single person in this thread would go right on over to Autozone and buy the best, yet cheapest wax they could if they were in your position. Financially caring for your family or buying expensive wax? Yeah, even DKS, who is a detailing WHORE that knows his shit, would put family before wax.

But I do get where you're going with this. I have a kid in college, one who is 17 and has braces, and a wife that watches every penny even though we are pretty well off financially.

Maybe I could ride up your way and borrow some of your wax? Or maybe DKS could adopt me?

I've been using Meguir's Tech wax and of the typical, off the shelf, brand items, I've found that to be one the nicer waxes I've used. Guess I'll have to try their Ultimate Wax when this stuff runs out.

I have a Jeep that I use NXT on. My car is a Show car. Before a show I use a "good" wax. Usually Natty's blue which is just $25 dollars.

You have to remember, you're on a site where people spend $1,000 for headers to get maybe 30HP. $200 for UDPs that maybe or maybe not give 10HP, etc. etc.

This is a car enthusiast site, people on here spend a lot of money on cars that they love.

Hell, I'm yet to have FI, because I keep putting family before my car. But, I'll gladly spend $25 on some Natty's before I spend $10 on some Turtle wax. It's not like it's just one coat. By the time you average it out, you're paying a few cents more per waxing for a better product.

Show car? What's that? My Bullitt is a daily driver!!!
Lee

So is my Five-Oh.

I think there's a difference in how you care for a "show car" that is garage-kept and only driven on nice days and a daily driver. My Mustang, unfortunately, is parked outside and driven just about every day. In order for my car to look like DKS's, I'd have to spend about 8 hours a week detailing it, minimum. I love my 'Stang, but I don't love it that much.

This here '93 Plymouth Duster was my first car. I still own it, by the way. It has a "top-of-the-line" Maaco paint job, and it was daily-driven for years with that paint job. Take a look at the finish:

The only way that crappy $800 paint job looks that good to this day is because I took such good care of it and religiously clay-barred, polished, and waxed it with Meguiar's products every other month or so. And it was driven daily and parked outside.

Now I'm not arguing that my humble Plymouth there looks as good as DKS's 'Stang, but I'd say that's pretty good, wouldn't you?

For those that are interested, here's what I use on my vehicles:

  • Meguiar's Gold Class Car Wash
  • Meguiar's or Mother's clay bar kit (whichever I can find in the store)
  • Meguiar's Ultimate Polish
  • Meguiar's Tech Wax 2.0 (sealant)
  • Meguiar's Gold Class wax
I think that's a pretty good detailing regime for people who can't spend hundreds of dollars (or hours) on detailing their cars.

Wow, that was a lot of Mopar pictures for one post. I better put up a picture of my Ford before I get banned:

I've tried a lot of products on my black stang. I think Blackfire Wet Diamond is by far the best with Wolfgang Fuzion a distant second.

I'm going to pick up some of that stuff before I detail my car again. Can you buy it online?

Yeah, you should be able to find in on Amazon.com. It's not really that expensive and it lasts way longer than anything else. Just be sure to let it cure for a day if you do multiple coats.

ProperAutoCare.com sells BF Wet Diamond. Its a great product. Very easy on and off. Great durability. A damn good product. They are the makers of the whole BlackFire line.

FYI. Properautocare's website wont let you check out if you're using FireFox.
Shipping is $9.99 on their site and amazon.

How do you like it?

Not my first time using it or anything. I like it a lot. It applies really, really nice. I feel that it covers better than most waxes. When you swipe the applicator in the can it feels a lot different, seems a lot softer than other waxes. You can apply it thin or thick and it removes just as easy. I find that some waxes apply great using straight lines and some prefer the 'ole circle method with that said, CG 5050 can be applied either way. Applying it in straight lines works just as well and it makes applying it a breeze. The appearance is great as well. A little deeper than something say Meguiars #16.

When you use Natty's do you hand apply it or use the DA?

By hand. I don't apply any paste waxes by machine. I know some guys do but I'm not really too interested in it.

On another thought I do use the DA to remove some waxes that are stubborn to remove like Meguiars #16. I place a MF over the pad and turn it on to remove the majority and than just quickly go over the rest of the car to remove anything else.

Do you use foam or MF pads for application when you do it by hand?

I apply my sealant by DA to assure a very thin even coat, but I pretty much apply my waxes by hand anymore.

I was ordering another gallon of Hyperdressing and was considering getting some more foam pads while I was at it. I've been using MF pads lately since I got a killer deal on some in bulk. But I'm not liking them as well as I though I would, especially with the Natty's.

They waste a lot of product and I don't like the feel of them against the surface.

By the way, have any products you want to get rid of?
