My battery is coming up on 5 years old, and all my Motorcraft batteries have always taken a dump right around that 5-year mark.

I'm getting ready to do some stereo stuff to the Mustang, and I remember years ago (like 15 years ago), Optima yellow top batteries were the bees' knees for high-draw car audio.

Anyone know if they're still good? Any issues running them on an '11 GT?

No optima. They are junk now. I know from experience and also thier customer service sucks.

Go with a deka/East Penn American made battery. Go with a AGM battery.

The only thing is fitment issues. And to my knowledge optima does not make a battery that fits the coyote.

Motorcraft is one of the best batteries out there based on experience and research.

Just fyi Motorcraft batteries aren't made by Ford. Thiers only like 4 companies in the world now that makes batteries.

I've been using Odyssey batteries in my vehicles for years and typically see 7-8 years of use. Odyssey batteries are AGM and will out perform flooded jars every time.

I'd recommend this battery
If you can swing it money wise , odyssey can't be beat. [emoji106]

I have the stock battery in my 2010 GT. It is still going strong. Takes about 2 months sitting to go dead so in the winter it is hooked to a battery tender. Whoever makes Motorcraft they do a good job.

My battery dies after 5 1/2 years. Since I had a nice discount (through my local Mustang club), I got a new OEM one at the Ford dealer. It had a better warranty then others I looked at too.

One thing you want to check on is how old the batt is. If it was made more than a couple, three months ago, give it a pass.

All my Motorcraft batteries in all my Fords die right around 5 years. And I put a battery tender on the Mustang any time it isn't driven for a couple days.

I go through batteries about every 3 years with the heat. I’ve been using Duralast and keep getting it replaced under warranty or at least prorated.

Had two yellow tops. They lasted 5 years. Then they stop holding charge gradually.
Agree, Interstate is good, but I lost my supplier.
I now have my third wallyworld battery. One is seven years old and no singns of dying. One is three years old. I put one in the mustang, as the optima didnt work with the epas harness. It was 5 years old and dying anyway.

My Motorcraft batteries last no longer than 3 years and that's with keeping a battery tender connected whenever the car isn't being driven
