2006 Mustang GT Clutch Pedal Safety Switch

Hey guys,

I replaced my clutch master cylinder and after re assembling everything back together I'm having an issue with my clutch safety switch. It's a like a mm away from being pushed in all the way and I can't seem to find a way to start the car. Can anyone help me out?

Short the switch and then make sure it's in neutral or you have clutch pressed in when starting.

How can I short it?

Unplug the connector from the switch and jumper the two connectors in the switch together. You can do it with a small piece of wire and some blade connectors or paper clip etc.

Or adjust the switch so the clutch pushes in the plunger all the way on your switch.

lol im still confused. smh not good with eletrical at all. Is there anyway someone can make a video for me? or some pictures?

Here is someone making a jumper with a paper clip. You want the two metal prongs in the connector to have continuity to each other this will simulate the switch plunger being pushed in.

If I just purchased a new switch could this fix my issue? I have a good plug at my local ford dealership it shouldn't cost me more than $40.00

By-passing it will cost you $0.

And only women need clutch safety switches.

Is your switch broke? Or does it just need adjusted? In which case buying a new switch and a new connector is a waste of money.

IIRC these switches are sensitive, want to work only when you're about to push the pedal through the carpeting, and will trip a spinning starter off if you so much as breathe off the clutch pedal. And the way they are mounted allows them to self-adjust down to that point. Mine didn't survive intact for even two weeks from taking delivery with 5 miles on the odometer.

I've never had an issue, I need mine for the wot box 2 step and no lift shift.

Mine went out years ago and all i done was do a jumper and then taped it up really good so no to not get any kind of electrical short, never had a problem , just have to make sure before cranking car that clutch is pressed in or that car is out of gear. Why pay $40.00 when you don't need to. Jumper is easy to make
