Well I have had some strange whirling sound very recently coming from up front of the B-302 Brenspeed Stroker Engine.
So the fellow I met sometime ago that owns Lexpro here in Franklin came by the house and brought his stethoscope.
He listened to everything up front and the only thing that made a noise was the Meziere.
It would only make the noise when the engine was 1st started so it was very difficult to find what was causing it.
As soon as it idled for just a brief time the sound would disappear.
And then the engine had to cool back down to hear it again.
So finally after listening to it multiple times we decided it had to be the bearings in the Meziere going bad.
When you listened to it with the Stethoscope you could hear the same noise/rhythm as the noise.
So I called George at Brenspeed and he had Meziere drop ship a new one to me.
So this morning Jon (Lexpro) said bring it ..........
It did not take long at all for him really to remove the old and install the new one.
Well we also decided to do new anti-freeze at the same time.
Took it and ran local errands and never heard the noise again so hopefully it was the Meziere bearings going bad.
This water pump is their Super Duty one for High Horsepower applications like mine.
It is an expensive unit at $500.00 dollars and carries a 2-year warranty.
I shipped the old one back to George at Brenspeed.
From Brenspeed it will go back to Meziere.
Below are some quick pictures I took of Jon doing his thing this morning.

Good Morning guys,
Off to Frankfort, KY. to my brother's house that has the Wild Z-06 Vette.
Only 1% chance for rain on the way there and back so great time for this.
I will have an excellent idea then on how the New 2015 "tigermachine" is doing for sure.
It gets DARK now at 5 PM my time so have to leave really early to make it a round-trip in the daylight.
I think I'll also check the gas mileage just for the heck of it ........
It's approximately a 4 hour drive each direction and 250 miles each way.

This was after 187 miles at 70 MPH approximately.
It was between 21.3 & 21.1 MPG
When I got almost home I looked at the read-out and it said
19.9 MPG
That was the complete trip up and back.
I think it was about 486 Miles for the complete trip.
I was going to take a picture but this is what turned-on as I got close to my exit last night.

Well guys here is the latest on the Bullitt ...

As I have mentioned a few times I have been testing the Bullitt after this last set of Major Modifications by driving it to KY. and back.
Each time I have done that something has shown up that required additional attention.
So this last trip to Kentucky I noticed it was making some weird noise again from the engine area.
This was when my brother and I were out in it doing errands.
It seemed to be around 45-50 MPH and when I was running at say 60 MPH the noise seemed to just go away.
Well anyway I never said anything to my brother at all and then on Saturday late afternoon I fired it up to come home.
Did not really hear anything strange so I wondered if the noise was going to return once I got to the highway and around the 45-50 MPH speeds.
Sure enough as soon as I got to the highway and the speed limit was 45 MPH here came the darn noise.
Then the speed limit changed to 55 MPH and I was running at 60 MPH and no noise or if it was still there I could not hear it.
I stopped for gas before getting on the interstate so I would not have to stop again and sure enough as soon as I left the gas station the noise was right back.
So home I was coming and of course I was running late as I stayed longer than I should have visiting.
So I ran 70 MPH some and then decided to get as close to home before Dark so went to 75 MPH.
Really did not hear anything from the engine area at those speeds coming home.
It is like 224 miles one way back home.
As I got much-much closer to Nashville, Tennessee and my speed varying the noise was definitely back and much-much LOUDER.
So as I got close to Franklin, Tennessee the Noise was really Pronounced !!!
I was going to stop at Shell and fill the Bullitt back up but due to the increased noise I decided to just go on home.
(Shell is only 1-mile from my house)
The Low Gas "WARNING" message had already came on as I got to the Franklin, TN. exits.
I pull in the garage and the Noise is a LOUD Screeching Sound as I pulled in.
I left it running and raised the hood hoping I would be able to determine what the heck was making all the racket.
Well I should have known better as you could not tell what component was doing it.
Everything up front on the engine was now New so it could have been coming from any idler pulley etc.
It was pretty darn Hot under the hood so no-way to really touch anything and not easy to get close to anything to determine what was Screeching.
Well if you guys recall I met Jon that owns Lexpro here in Franklin.
So I was going to just take it over to him and let him use his Stethoscope to determine where the LOUD Screeching was coming from.
Of course it was raining that Monday morning.
Luckily it quit raining and by 2:30 PM the street in front of the house was drying up.
So Jon was at his shop and I 1st went to Shell and filled it up with gas.
Then jumped on the interstate to run at higher speeds than on the normal two lane streets to his shop.

So I got in and barely raised the RPM to like 1,500 RPM and the LOUD Screeching sound was back in Full-Force.
So he was then able to listen to every component on front of the engine.
It was definitely coming from the New Steeda belt tensioner.
The bearing in it went bad !!!
So I made a quick call to George at BRENSPEED and told him what Jon found.
He said let me do some checking tomorrow when everything opens and see if Metco makes a Double-Bearing Tensioner Pulley.
Well I just heard from George and below is his E-Mail to me.

So sometimes luck does come into play it looks like.
Metco does make a Dual-Bearing-Idler so George will do his thing and get it off to me per UPS.
I'll get with Jon (Lexpro) and get this New Heavy-Duty one installed.
So once this is done I'll make another trip to Kentucky to my brother's house as a Test Run.
Hopefully this will get the Bullitt back to where it use to be in Reliability for long trips.
I'm very Lucky and Fortunate IMO to have met Jon here locally.
He was the fellow that has done several things for me on the Bullitt.
And he happens to be only maybe 20-minutes from where I am sitting.
It pays to be nice to people is what I have found out from meeting Jon some time ago.
He is really into Very-Fast-Cars.
I'll let you all know how this turns out once the parts get here and Jon does his thing.
Then weather permitting I'll be off for another "Trial-Run" to Frankfort, Kentucky and back.

I am loving my Thumprrr tensioner. Never had an issue with it. The belt wrap extension arm for the Saleen S/C on the other hand never worked well for me and after 9 broken belts and a broken timing cover I just decided to not use it.

Well just got two UPS notices plus E-Mails from George (Brenspeed).
The new Metco is on it's way and the necessary spacers for it.
So this time I think I will be all set.

The Metco idler pulleys are nice. I don't know anything about their tensioners. I'd maybe go with a new Thumprrr one if you were getting one as apposed to the beat up one. Your engine bay looks so shiny and nice you wouldn't want to mess it up.

George found that Metco has a 10-Rib Double-Bearing one so I'll be all set.
I will just be using 8 of the 10-ribs obviously.
He is sending the proper spacers for the Metco to be installed.
This should once and for all eliminate this issue.
Be nice to get mine back to No-Oil-Seeping anywhere, No-Noise issues anywhere etc.
I'm keeping the faith as sometimes with so many changes and the new power level placed on all components things can and do go bad.
I figure just keep on top of things with testing and eventually all of it will be working together with No-Problems.

Haha, mine is a rattle bucket but it doesn't leak any oil. It mists it out through breathers so I have to keep a constant eye on the dipstick and keep adding, but never a drop on the ground. If these kids every give me time or help me I need to go though and tighten up all kinds of stuff and I think I want to dyno mat int interior and the trunk to make it quieter. I need to more securly make my SOS dash pod mounted, as I had the one you didn't have to drill but the garage that fixed it after it was vandalized and stolen from drilled a hole in the dash anyway, I need to put some tape around another of the gauges that rattles in its pod as well. I deffently need to clean it as well.

Man it reads like your going to be kept busy getting rid of rattles.
Oh speaking of using the Dyno Mat it does work.
I know several of the guys with the Bullitt Mustangs did their Mustangs.
And they did do the trunk area as well as the cabin.
They said it made a huge difference !!!
My parts are suppose to be coming in today so will have to get with Jon to have them installed soon.
Then weather permitting make another Test-Drive to Frankfort, KY. and check it all out for (Seeps, Leaks & Noises).

The Metco parts just arrived to correct and get rid of the screeching coming from the idler pulley.
(We just installed the other one like a month back)
It was an 8-rib pulley with (Single Bearing).
Called Jon and he is going to do the install this coming Monday if he can work it in.
Here are some pics of the New Metco 8/10 Rib Extreme-Duty, Double-Bearing pulley.

He picked up the Bullitt this morning on his way to his shop.
He drives right by here going & coming each day to his Shop/Business.
He just now delivered it back and it now has the New Metco Pulley.
So you would think all is A-OK, right ???

Now the darn serpentine belt is slipping and making noise.
So New Extra Heavy-Duty Serpentine Belt has been ordered by Jon.
It will be here this coming Monday !!!
I'll be back after this next belt is installed and we check it out for Noise & Slipping.

Hello gang,
I have not been on this computer for awhile.
As I said above Cathy & I have really been Super Busy with getting the house done.
So, we got this room done and hooked back up both computers.
Here is what has taken place with the "tiger-machine" recently.
Got a call from Jon at Lexpro here in Franklin, TN. to bring the Bullitt over for the New Serpentine Belt install.
Took it over last week and Jon {Flushed} the complete front of all pulleys etc. on the engine.
Then blew everything back off.
The original 8-Rib Serpentine Belt had gotten contaminated with oil residue.
He installed the New {GREEN} HD (Heavy Duty) Serpentine Belt.
I got in and started it up and we let it idle for a few minutes to bring the engine temperature up.
I revved it a few times and No-Noise from the New Double-Bearing-Metco or the New {Green} HD Serpentine Belt.
The Boost gauge now jumped instantly with a quick-blip of the throttle.
I took it for a test drive and hit the throttle a few times or more
Boost went instantly to 20 Lbs and everything worked exactly as it should.
Was hoping to drive it to my brother's house in Franklin, KY for a long distance test.
But the house thing has me staying right at home these days.
That test will just have to wait until another time and date,

It has a Huge Pro-Charger S/C (Supercharger).
And soon a two speed Powerglide with Brake.
Dyno is 800 Plus RWHP !!!
He has owned all kinds of totally Awesome Machines guys.
Below are some pictures of one of the New Additions I had done to the house.
It is a 2-Ton Carrier HVAC Split-Unit
Part of the house renovation was to have new garage door seals installed.
That was done by the company that also did the aluminum siding.
So now the garage door seals nicely and air is not leaking/blowing around the sides and under it any-longer.
The lowest Heat temperature that can be set is 62-degrees.
It stays really comfortable
We also tried the A/C out as it was high 60's the day they did the install.
The A/C guys Blows COLD.
The Split-Unit to the left of the Carrier is the Samsung.
It was installed to do the HT (Home Theater) some years ago.
Here are the two Hiller techs that did the install
And last pictures in this post below.
This came as a present to me way the heck back in like 2009.
Tom Cochran sent it to me and I just now actually UN-Wrapped it.
It is now being used by me, finally

I have not really gotten to put any miles on this new belt, yet.
But it sure seems to be the stuff on the short test drives Jon and I did.
I think it will continue to work just fine.
Jon ordered me 1 extra belt for the future.
I'll be glad when I can get the house renovation completed and weather permitting drive the Bullitt some.
