Need2speed.com had a track rental yesterday so we took Joe Coffeeman's Mustang out to see how the new Air to water intercooler would help out. With all the new power, the converter needs some work. But with about .05 off in the 60' and alot of slip down track he got a new best of 9.76@140. We also got to weigh the car for the first time in race trim and it tipped the scales at 3876 lbs.

The basic recipe is

Ford Racing Aluminator 9.5:1 crate engine
D1 Procharger at 20 psi
Boss Intake
Custom air to water
Circle D Converter
E85
275s
Stock Transmission

Already have an F1 ready to bolt on. That with the new converter and a little suspension work, should be a low 9 second car all day long.

Here are some pics, working on getting a copy of the video

Might be a stupid question but why not lock the converter in 3rd and 4th gear to eliminate the slip? How does he get by with no cage?

What size convertor going to? Swapping whole convertor or just redoing current? If swapping want sell current?

nice!

BTW - who's GT500 blew up?

Not sure. I didn't know him and neither did Jon or Van. Had a whipple 3.4 and a 75 shot on a stock engine.

Keeping the converter unlocked makes it easier on the drivetrain, especially on a heavy car like this. It's a big sponge that soaks up all the shock. Obviously not the best for the converter. I do lock it up in 4th. Ultimately it would go faster but hard on parts if locked earlier. Plus it just went 9.76@140, don't want to get greedy. :)

He's putting a cage in it but they are not very strict at track rentals.

That's badass! But he better put some hood pins on. That hood looks loose.
