5.0L DOHC 4v coming for 2011

Its not a member of the 4.6/5.4 family because that line has been discontinued. Its already been announced the only line still running those engines will be the niche line (aka the GT500 Engine).

Its called a Coyote and either we get it or we dont get a V8. Its the general issue V8 for the F150 next year replacing the 4.6L/5.4L in most applications with the 6.2L replaciing the 5.4L in a few of the special F150's like the HD and Raptor. The 6.2L was designed primarily for the Super Duty F250/F350.

When has ford ever done that? I have learned to get kinda let down by ford. They make great, solid, fast cars. But they have always been afraid in the past to put something in that completely trounces everything else. They start projects, but never go through with them in the end. Like the 6.2L. We will see though. I hope they do what you are saying, but I am not holding my breath.

It amazes me how often some people bitch about Ford's engine offerings when we have had a blown DOHC 4.6 and 5.4 in the previous and current iterations respectively.

As stated, the 6.2 isn't "dead", it's a truck engine. The Coyote should propel the GT to the top of the pony car heap (GT500 excluded of course)

The 6.2L for a production mustang is dead. They can't drop a truck engine into a car like they did on the 1st vipers......they have to change some stuff up.

I think they are dropping it in the svt raptor, but that is a truck engine to begin with.

And I have no problem with my engine. Except the garbage rings, and rods. (2008 bullitts have MX5000 series pistons for those who don't know)

And ford can make/has made amazing engines. But they choose to put in a small solid engine in stock form, easy way out. The mustang stock for stock has been out performed time and time again. There are no more BOSS 429, GT 390, mach 1 351 mustangs. Or anything like that. There is one power plant for the GT for cost reasons. Fine. And the GT 500 is a beast also. But Long story short. Can ford make a 7.0L and kill vettes. Yes. Will they put it in a mustang or bring back the FORD GT with a blower. Nope.

Ford is good at getting the job done with a smaller motor. But it is not ideal. You have to invest alot of money in our cars to get results. Not like a GM. Do I like GM no. (except vettes) But all you do to an LS1 is throw some bolts on and cut low 12's or build the topend and run high to mid 11's.

Hard to do that with a ford. (not impossible)
