UPDATE: Ford didn't do their job, and they WILL be hearing from my father and I.. When my car was in there and they said "Input shaft took out the tranny and it'll be $4000 to fix/replace" they obviously didn't do their homework. They probably figured they'd screw a kid out of a lot of money. The dumb tech must have just plugged in a scanner and got no codes and pulled the rest out of his ass.. Reason I say this is because I drained the automatic tranny yesterday and oil was clean as hell, not burnt, no metal shavings or anything wrong with it.. What I think happened with my car was that the transmission was extremely low on oil and it wouldn't allow the car to be put into a gear.. I measured the oil that came out of my auto and exactly ONLY 2 QUARTS CAME OUT. I am beginning to think the transmission isn't blown and that it was just low on fluid..... I want to rip them all a new asshole b/c this is the same local dealership that I originally bought a 07 Heat edition V6 from that when they delivered me the car it was not what I paid for and after a month or them trying to fix their problem I returned my new car and went elsewhere to find my current GT.
5 quart jug...
Back to progress though...
Anyhow, Went at it again today, man this is definitely not easy doing it at home on jackstands with not all the right tools lol.. Me and my father spent all day putting in work on my car..
Removed the three starter bolts and starter, used a pry bar to rotate everything and then removed the 4 torque converter bolts.. I unplugged all the plugs on the harness for the transmission. I removed all bell housing bolts (the two top ones were fucking crazy, the driver side one on top was by far the worst! Had my dad rig up a bunch of extensions on the socket, and push up while I laid on top of my strut tower brace and crammed my hand down behind the motor between wire harnesses and tubes.. I guided it onto the bolt and had to hold it in place as he tried to break it loose.
Unplugged all the things on the transmission, some of which you can't see.. I had to remove both exhaust shields and O2s at one point b/c they were just in the way.
Once all the bolts were out, we went to pry the transmission off of the motor and the driver side popped off no problem, however the passenger side must be stuck on a rusted dowel pin or something b/c the bitch won't break away from the motor.. Oh almost forgot, when I went to remove the transmission cooler and lines- had the biggest struggle with this.
Ok so Ford uses the typical spring loaded quick disconnect that are used on a/c lines or fuel lines, wrong. They must have a special tool only they sell b/c I made 4 trips to an auto parts store, spent over $40 trying all different sizes and none of them fit... Needless to say i wasted hours on this part and I got so pissed off I just cut off the hoses lol..
I spent all day working on the car and while I made progress, It was still very discouraging since I thought I would have achieved more in that time frame.. I stopped and went to bed lol.
Hoping that I may take a stab at it again today, but I have a lot of school stuff to worry about first.
