Due to me doing something I really shouldn’t have done. My 5r55s in my 2005 GT with E-Force SC has bought the farm. I do not want to go with a manual, so my options look like replacing with a beefed up 5r55s from Level10. Or, a 6r80 swap. A few questions about 6r80.
I know that you can get a separate controller for the trans. Since the car is tuned by Lito, does he shut off existing trans controls in tune?
Can I still use stock shifter with it?
I see conflicting info about HP limits on a new unit. Anybody know if it will handle 500RWHP without mods?
I’m aware driveshaft would have to be shortened, and new rear support added.
I would have to have a shop do most of the work because of health issues.

I have lost interest in the drag strip and do HPDE track days now. The week before I broke the trans, I got moved up from novice to intermediate. Great timing.
Any help would be appreciated.

The 6R80 will handle 500RWHP all day long without mods. You'll need to get a two piece driveshaft from an 11-14 GT or a one piece aluminum driveshaft from the same years. Your stock shifter will work for the 6R80. Your ECM will need to be programmed over to a manual ECM strategy so it's not throwing codes about the 5r55s. You'll need a new transmission crossmember from said 11-14GT. I just switched over my 06 to the 6R80 and it cost me about 4K Canadian. The controller was the biggest cost at $1200 USD (Qucik 6 with external display). Here's a list of parts needed. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1sI54VhvIOUmMk1f8SH5BEN4Do47BEuonreCh8sVS1e4/edit?pli=1&tab=t.0

Hello friends,
Help. Help. I also made a 6R80 swap. I need help on my Mustang GT/CS 2007 4.6 3V. (all options) with :
• Auto box removed (5R55S)
• TCM deleted / beam cut
• Fully independent USShift Quick6-driven box
Objectives :
• Remove all DTCs related to transmission (P07xx)
• Disable auto box strategy in PCM
• remove fail-safe cooling
• restore normal communication with cluster (ODB, gauges)

I would like to switch the PCM to "manual gearbox" mode so that it no longer sends error code. I used Forscan but I couldn't figure out how to do it!

The good .ab file for Forscan would do I think.

Thank you in advance for your help.

If HPDE reliabilty is your primary goal, you need a manual conversion. Automatics will overheat open tracking.
