Did some playing with the 8” Fosgate shallow mount in the doors today. Turned out pretty good I thought. 3/4 spacers….gonna try a 1/2 spacer on the passenger door I think. Probably gonna rattle to much to really use but hoped it’d look cooler than factory

if you feel like getting rid of some of the spacer, you can stretch the enclosure in the door cover.

I took mine off, put some weights in the bottom of it and applied heat to the underside with a torch, evenly. It heats up the plastic stretching it out and makes the opening deeper. I have Kicker Comp R subs in my doors (they're 4-1/8" mounting depth) with only a 1/4" spacer.

you guys are giving me ideas. I need to replace my factory door subs. Both of them are blown.

Do you have any pictures of your install?
