It's not that bad IF you know wtf you're doing, and yes, you need the tools to do it. The more of them you do, the more efficient you become at doing them. But, I like to take the time and do it right, getting everything within specs to ensure quiet and smooth operation.

Well, gears and install kit showed up this morning! Should be done Sunday if all goes to plan!

Just figured I'd update this -

Sunday the gears went in and they're great! Even though it was a HUGE pain in the ass at points. And I wasn't even the one doing the work (except when a third hand was needed). No gear whine after ~170 miles so I'm happy. Glad I finally got rid of the roaring sound that mine was making. I'm thinking more and more that it was bearings making the noise before.

The previous issues were due to problems relating to bearings and previous repairs made to the rear end (I'll leave it at that). Using new bearings and seals and properly setting up everything so that it's done right, that took care of all the issues.

No fluid leaks so far. And yeah, I tend to rack up miles fairly quick. I love the 4.10s. They make a huge difference! Thanks again!
