Well, I am heading to the track this weekend and I am using my DRs for the first time. I have never really done a burn out in my car before, let alone leave a nice patch of rubber. So I am asking for some advice from the "experts". My car is a stick BTW........thanks in advance!

You will have to hold the break with your toe and hold the clutch at the same time. Big pain if you ask me. I would get some line locks for a stick. You will have to practice the heel toe thing .

Inch into the water box in 1st gear. The starter will flag you into the box and close their fist when you are in the water. STOP. They will make a 2 hand wipe action oking you to spin the tires for a breif time to just get the tires wet. When he does that, just bring the reves to about 3k-4k rpms and let the tire spins for 4-5 rotations.

The starter will then wave you forward a few inches to get you out of the water. Once you are clear, he will close his fist again, signaling to stop. At that time, put the car in 2nd gear. Once the cars ahead of you are clear, he will give you a thumbs-up to do your burnout.

Without moving the car forward, rev the car to 6k and dump the clutch. As quickly as you can, as you release the clutch, move your left foot from the clutch pedal to the brake and press the brake slightly. You want to apply the brake just enough to stop the car from rolling, but not so hard that you stop the back tires from spinning. That will take some trial and error to figure out.

You want to keep the revs as high as possible so your wheel speed is as close to 60 mph as possible. Try not to bounce off the rev limiter. It is not a deal breaker, but the pausing in engine power makes it hard to keep the wheels spinning.

Keep the wheels spinning until you see some nice white smoke in your mirrors, let the brake go and the car will start to move foward. As soon as the car starts to roll forward, let off the gas so the tires start to hook, step on the clutch so you don't stall, then put the car back in 1st and start to move forward to the line. That will keep the tires hot and sticky while stopping you from rolling back into the water.

If you want, I will ask the guys at the track to let me give you a quick demo too. I do mine in 3rd gear, but I have 4.56 gears. If you try it in 3rd with the stock R&P you will prob stall. Once you get the idea, you can always try it.

Don't be nervous, Laura, but you may want to practice it a few quick times in an empty parking lot so you don't make simple mistakes like forgetting to turn traction control off.
I've done mine in 1st while heel/toe the brake and gas the entire time so I don't suddenly apply too much brake but I'm no expert. Guess I'll be trying it in 2nd from now on.

Don't be nervous. That's what track rentals are for. Your going to be around mustang family.

If you keep going back to the track install a line lock and you will be set. Good Luck, Wish I could join you guys.

its easy. You'll get it. Now go order line locks so you don't mess up the brakes too badly haha

Get the PMP line lock kit and the Jegs solenoids. Makes it completely plug and play for an easy install

with DR's, you shouldnt need the water box at all. I would just go around it and stage. What I used to do because these cars like to be up in the 3500+rpms to spin without stalling, I would give it a high rev and once you see it at about 4500, take your foot off the clutch and onto the brake while holding the gas at 4k. This worked for me.

Next step is to buy linelocks

Huh?

The water is to provide extra sticky tires, like DR's and Slicks, a short term lubricant to allow the tire to break traction easier without shocking the driveline, let the revs go higher quicker so it is easier to reach proper wheel speed, and to get the tire clean of debris such as sand, small rocks, grass, etc.

Why would you want to skip the water box with DR's?

Thanks!! I know I won't have any drastic changes on my times since my car is still stock. But it will be a fun ass day!

My TC is already turned off from my tune....so no worries there, but thanks for the lookout!

I have 3.55's.......

Video is a good way of seeing what others are trying to describe to you concerning your burnouts, staging, and leave.

Plus, we get to see you in the video so............you know.

Ok, gotcha.....

But you won't be able to see me because of my 5% tint and I just got my front windshield tinted. I am a ghost in that car haha.
