Advise on gear whine

Did a search and have been reading the posts for the last hour or so.
If I understand correctly, there should be no gear whine under any conditions if the install was done properly. Is that correct?
This is the problem I'm having. The whine is most noticeable during decelerate between 40-50 mph, none below 30 mph and I can hear it during up-shifts above 60 mph. The gears are Ford racing 373N gears not the Motive gears. The gears have about 350 miles on them. 2 heat cycles done (one by the shop) both around 25 miles. Saturday I went on a little trip about 110 miles one way with several hours of cool down time in between.
Am I being too picky here, or is there a problem?
Backlasch too loose or tight?

Are you sure your not hearing exhaust drone?
They do sound similar.
I would think gear whine should fairly consistent.

It's not the exhaust. I have owned this car for two years and know every sound it makes. This "sound/whine" did not start until after the gear install. As soon as I just look at the gas pedal it does away.

imho, 3.73's should be very quiet. it's not like it's a super big gear or anything. my 4.56's don't make any noise. take it back to the installer and let them listen to them.

mine have a little bit of whine 50-60 mph..............no big deal to me. Been in the car for 40k miles with no problems yet.

Mine was doing the same thing when the gears were first installed (4.10s) and found that the pinion preload was too loose, cranked down and the pinion nut a little more and noise was gone.

my 3.90's do the same exact thing ..... and no they should not make any noise at all

My 4.10s gears are driving me fucking nuts. Around 50 mph they emit a constant high pitched hum. I would take it back to the shop where the job was done, but the previous owner had the gears installed before I owned the car.

sounds like a good reason to upgrade to 4.56's!

Right after my install I got a little whine when I decelled around 80. It has either diminished over time or I got used to it.

I'll be shifting into 5th at the track! Acutally with the blower going on soon, I want 3.73s.

ive got a noticable whine in my richmond 4.10s. ive just learned to live with it...lol. havent seen any adverse effects yet even after a couple thousand miles.

my fms 4.10s whine just on decel guess since they were made my motive they have been looked at 3 times

my gears whine on accel at around 40-50 mph... pretty annoying stuff, but ive gotten used to it. in that range, it makes the sound while accelerating; if i take my foot off the gas and let it coast it goes away immediately.

ive got a noticable whine in my richmond 4.10s. ive just learned to live with it...lol. havent seen any adverse effects yet even after a couple thousand miles.

All the Richmond gear sets I have ever run have whined but they are indestructable. Some of the best gears you can get in my opinion, you just have to put up with the whine. I don't know if I would go with them for a DD.

if the gears whine they are installed wrong, it has nothing to do with how they are made, make sure the pinion depth is correct cause if its too deep or shallow you will get gear whine
