Best Weekend Trips Around Dallas?

I'm just looking around the internet for cool weekend trips that I could make around Dallas, ideally with some cool roads in the middle... not finding much beyond the usual crap...

I wanna have somewhere that's ideally got roads with actual corners and hills in them, fun roads to drive on, but then the destination also has to be worth visiting. Lol. Figured it might be worth asking real people instead of consulting stupid websites...

What are some cool cities or places to visit for a weekend? Like drive up Friday or Saturday, stay a night or two and come back Sunday night.

not in dallas but austin area has some really nice twisty back roads with some hill area. plus there is a ton to do in austin wether your single or with someone. just a thought since its not far from dallas and can be enjoyed easily in a weekend from dallas.

Austin hill country is best... about a 3 1/2 hr drive from dallas..but awesome roads..plus great places to go and eat...County Line BBQ or the Oasis. fun drives anywhere around the lakes..

AMARILLO!! by the canyon area is sick!! But it's really far away. Dallas doesn't have much. or if u find curvy roads they usually have huge pot holes.

Hwy. 7 North out of Hot Springs, AR. Much better than anything I've witnessed around Austin....unless you like driving in traffic.

The Reason:

Ouachita National Forest = good views and twisty roads. That also means very low traffic. Almost no towns, no intersecting roads, no driveways and very little private property.

And no, I'm not from there. Just been there.

For Texas.....you gotta go out west to find equally uncluttered twistys. The river road west out of Big Bend is darn good. They leave the wreckage of 18 wheelers at the bottoms of the cliffs. I guess it's too expensive to tow.
