Ok, so...I believe I have Comps 127200 cams in my car right now..Those should be a NSR Stage II. They were one of the first mods I did years ago, along with gears and headers.

These cams are paired up with my 302 stroker, ported heads, and whipple.

I am making 16psi right now, bout to pulley down from 2.9 to 2.75 to make possibly 18.

Would swapping these cams out with a Blower Cam be worth the time and money? How much would I "really" gain..? I haven't done this already because I figure it would only be about 20...which wouldn't be worth it to me.

What kind of gains do yall think I would see if I got a more suitable cam?

Thanks

Yes, especialy as you increase boost, blower grind cams have a longer exhaust duration to help evacuate the extra air. You could pick a set up swap them and sell your 127200s, so not alot of cost to do the swap either. I would reccomend valve springs at that boost level too.

With your current set-up my guess would be around 30whp from a good set of blower cams... but as Lightblade mentioned they will really help your system out with the extended exhaust duration.

What's the primary use of your car? Bigger cams will result in not only the cost of the parts and installation but also more tuning. The bigger the cam the more tuning time to get great street manners. You might also have to change out some parts like your Whipple bypass controller (lighter spring for low idle vacuum applications). I have 127550 SPR cams with limiters.

I am running the 127350 stage II XFI VSR blower cams from Brenspeed. Brenspeed claims they are good for around 25-30 rwhp. The are very streetable, no problems tunning the car, do wish they had a more aggressive idle, but you can tell I have cams.

I was running N/A 127300 cams and Im currently switching to 127450 blower cams. I think its worth the time and money. I was told with higher boost and more displacement, which you have, it was worth 50hp.

By the way, what HP you making on the 16lb set up now?

I do actually already have springs and retainers...I believe the beehive ones...they are from Comp..I didn't have to replace them, but I did anyways....

Its my daily..but also a roll racing and drag car on occasion. All I would have to pay for is parts, I would be doing the install, as I do all the work on my car myself, with help of friends.

Who makes those cams KITT? I am making 667,664 on 16lbs. Bout to up my boost again though, by maybe 2.

There is really only one way to find out. Put some in and report back! You can do 350's without limiters. If you have limiters I'd do 450's.

I had Comp 127450 cams in my original engine with my non-intercooled Whipple and really liked them. They had a nice, noticeable idle but not too radical and the mid- to top-end power was awesome.

+1 for 127450s!

This is the danger involved in the forums. Now I'm really wondering what a set of good blower cams will do for my motor. Good grief, before you know it I'll be building another damn motor. I have a shortblock coming tomorrow, a set of 127650 cams, and a set of 3v heads I can't sell. All I need are pistons and rods and It's crazy time again.

You know... me and bobby are coming out with a turbo kit very very soon...

Hmmm... Looking forward to the finished product. I'd imagine good ground clearance, a nice straight blow through pipe, decent turbo.

Oh crap, we've hijacked a thread.

I just went with comp 127350 cams with comp springs and retainers. Just started tuning now so I'll post back with how the driveability is.
