How's it going guys, I just bought me a 08 GTCS it has 101xxx miles and I was wondering would it be safe to push 7-10 lbs of boost usin a 70mm turbo on stock internals
Boost is irrelivent. HP is what matters. You can run 450ish HP at the wheels. If that takes 1 or 15lb it doesn't matter.

Torque eats rods, if you have 430hp and 500ft-lbs say bye to your toothbrush rods![]()

Bullshit.
I've been boosted since 2006 for over 80,000 miles on stock internals.
I've been at 498/499 since 2008 with no issues.
I've been at 543/499 since 2010 with no issues.
The car is not treated with kid gloves either.
Proper tuning is the key.
Detonation is your enemy.

Over 2,800 1/4 mile runs. How much of those 80,000 miles are racing?
Congrats on a good tune, but I wouldn't push it at those levels.
I'd say you got lucky and it's not the norm, why not try 600, 700, 800 then?
LOLOver 2,800 1/4 mile runs.
Some lapping thrown in too.
It's been pushed hard enough to shatter 1 pinion, 2 Detroit Truetracs', 1 Wavetrac, and a TR3650 input shaft.
There is now a Currie 9" with 35 spline axles at the rear.
In 2005 when JDM tuned their red S197 with a Saleen blower the thought was that 450rwhp was the limit and slowly people have pushed the envelope.
JDM and some other tuners are able to consistently get to these power levels without issue.
That is not to say that I wasn't warned that I should plan on building a bottom end.
There is a JDM shortblock sitting in my garage waiting on heads and cams.
The car will once again be driven 400 miles to JDM for tuning once I build and install the motor.
The reason I don't want to go further on the current engine is that it will serve as a backup just in case something goes south with my build.
I have seen too many builds go south over the years and summer up here is too short to go without my car for long periods.
[sarcasm]ONLY 2,800 1/4 mile runs????[/sarcasm]
LOL

3V's are good for 900hp on stock internals..............where'd that thread go?
