The only light affected is the right tail light. It illuminates if I turn the running lights on or press the unlock key. When I hit the lock button it does not illuminate. It also does not when I hit the brake, only the left and third brake light illuminate. I searched for threads and from I can understand it is probably the harness. If this is the case wouldn't buying the sequential tail light conversion fix my problem? Thanks in advance.

All of the power for your rear lights originates from the Smart Junction Box (SJB) inside the car. If I were you, I would pull off the panel and look for some water in that area that's causing the weird problems. Even to the point of removing it, inspecting the box and connectors for any type of water marks, and drying it out good even if you don't see anything.

You can look in the schematic: http://iihs.net/fsm/?dir=40, select "Parking, rear, and license lamps"

Thanks for the link.

I found out what the problem was by taking out the right tail light and plugging it into the harness for the left tail light. Turned the left signal on and nothing happened. This tells me that the problem is in the harness that is located in the trunk. This is the harness that goes directly into the three bulbs in the tail light housing. Does anyone have a ford part number for this piece? I looked in electrical and lighting and could not find it on fords website. Here is the harness I am referring to.

Edit: Found it. Part number is 13k371

Thank you, I think I'm just going to buy the sequential kit. Good excuse to buy more shit. Hopefully this helps anyone else having the same problem down the road.
