After speaking with comp they told me to put a second boost gauge on the compressor housing and compare the two. 1 being intake pressure and 1 compressor housing pressure. The gauge on the compressor housing is reading almost 17psi, but the gauge on the intake is only seeing 5.4 psi.

Bad intercooler?

Definetly a cold side leak somewhere between the turbo and intake manifold then.

To check my cold side I use a 4" cap on the inlet of the turbo with a tire stem valve , and a piece of oval wood shaped like the throttle body.you can hear all kinds of leaks! I've fixed them all and now I can air it to 30 psi and it will hold for a few minutes. I actually discovered a bad inter cooler using the method as well.

I thought he said all of his smoke tests were good
Man this is confusing Bad BOV

I meant, could the intercooler be obstructing air flow internally? Could it be checked? The turbo is producing boost, but not making it to intake, correct?

I was just trying to imagine what could slow the turbine down, and a flow restriction stalling air flow was one. Or, I could be talking out my ass. :)

I wish CPRsm would comment if this is something he has seen on a Chinese intercooler.

I think it is a BOV issue. I can hear air escaping out of the LF corner I think.

Im just talking out my ass here but wouldnt you hear boost bleeding out the blow off valve ? I mean, when mine opens at even just 5psi I can hear it. You are losing 10 psi, you have to be able to hear it somewhere.

^^ No kidding. You can see when my bov opens on my dyno vids, it blows up the fender cover. That is at 11lbs with the bov right in front of the front tire.

It's pretty loud. Never knew it wasn't suppose to sound like that. I guess I though it was just the turbo, doing turbo stuff lol

Would you need to block the intake? Wouldnt it be ok to inject like 20 PSI into the system all closed?

Got ya

I talk out my ass all the time lol

And OP is it the BOV got jacked up when you had a the lines switched on the WG. resulting in the overboost

i block off the intake manifold with a piece of wood using the coupler that normally attaches to my TB. so i pressurize the entire cold side from before the turbo all the way to the TB with around 30PSI. have to be very careful....the block off caps will put a dent in something if they fly out.....lol

New BOV, same result. Just took the intercooler off to pressure test

I'm curious how your testing what goes in vs what comes out?

EDIT: I suppose you could bridge the gap on the cold side and see what happens.

The throttlebody doesn't actually fully close and you will have leak by into the manifold and the rest of the engine.
