Comp or Livernois Phaser Limiters?

Been doing a ton of research and am about to order cams. Going with the Comp Mutha Thumprs. Which limiters should I use? They are different designs. Which is better?

whichever ones lock the cams completely. check with JPC they have some new stuff coming as well.

I didn't think lockouts were the way to go. I thought using limiters helped decrease the amount of low end torque that is generally lost with larger cams. Anyone else have any experience?

I think I'm just going to use the Comp Cams limiters. Same brand of parts sounds good to me.

No problem. I decided on these over the Hot Rods for a few reasons. First, they are slightly lareger than the FRPP cams. This will allow a little more growing room later if I decide to change heads. Second, they seem to have an overall better improvement in power over the FRPP cams. I know making power with NSR cams is largely in tune, but as a general statement, my theory seems to be true. Third, they just sound more wicked than the Hot Rods. I feel I'm competent enough at driving a stick that I can over come a lot of the low speed clutch release nuances that people seem to complain about. I typically blip the throttle before I begin releasing the clutch. This should prove very effective in quelling a jerky and uncontrolled clutch release.

Do these sound like good reasons? Anybody have another view or opinion for me to think about before I pull the trigger?

You have good reasoning, no doubt.....But I just don't think you will be happy with the power of the Mutha Thumpr's....

There are plenty of cam's out there that are NSR, and make better power and still have a lopey idle, as well as not being a bitch to drive....

BBR has great deals, as well as some vendor's selling Comp's....I think you would be happier with the #127300's or #127500's even though springs would be needed...

I'm not terribly concerned with the power output. I know "tamer" (tamer sounding anyway) cams will make more power, such as the Xfi series. I'm just an old school kinda guy (see sig for my play toy) and love the old school thump (not to make me sound old, I'm only 25 lol). I plan on ordering through BBR, so I will definitely talk to them regarding my choice. Thanks for the advice.

Sounds good man!! I do love the old school sound as well....(being I am only 24)....

you made your choice and it's a fine
one. just talk with your tuner to find
out if he prefers limiters or lockouts
for tuning purposes.

Either limiter should work just fine. I'll say it again, there has not yet been a phaser failure with limiters in place.

I tend to agree with your logic about keeping with the Comp limiters since you are using their cams.

Same with my tuner. Simply because it is easier to tune and not because it is a mechanical liability.
