I was scrolling through facebook market and found this motor from a shelby gt500 5.4L 4v with a twin turbo setup. Was wondering what kind of process would be needed to do a swap like this? What to do for the Pcm/ecu, what wiring harness to use, needing to make clearance in the engine bay in order to fit, and what transmission to add along engine.

Realistically I'd probably remove the turbos if I were ever going to buy an engine like this but im genuinely curious about what the time and cost would look like.

Just my humble opinion.... I'm not a GT500 expert but but even assuming that it's a decent engine and you have a complete roller to source the rest of the parts needed and do all of the work yourself w/friends you're probably looking north of $20k. I had the same thought myself about 10 years ago when I found a wrecked 2008 with a running engine but it was at least complete. After considering that I would need to disassemble and transfer about 1/2 (wiring harnesses/electronics/interior/gauges/etc) of the wrecked car to my car and I would still end up with a GT I decided to pass (At the time I couldn't verify the condition of the rest of the drive train (trans/driveshaft/rear end). And that one was only around $12k with just about everything needed to make it a runner. Yeah, that would have been cool to have a GT 500 drive train in a GT. As far as the trans it will likely run ~$3 - 4k.

In retrospect sometimes I'd wished I'd done it but I did spring for a DOB GT450 kit so it's already fast enough to get me noticed if I'm not careful.

I think this project would go over-budget.
Price seems low on a 1500 hp capable engine.

Yea, but maybe its because its also missing the supercharger, it looks like its just the block and heads and some front accessories. But obviously I'd probably get brand new parts for a refresh. like a pulley set and a new harmonic balancer from steeda.

In theory, wouldn't a 5.4 4V run on the stock 3V ECU with a custom tune with the VCT turned off? Maybe a few pigtail changes to the engine harness? A 5.4 is just a tall deck 4.6 and the ECU doesn't know how many cams there are.
This is an honest question for those who know better than I. Maybe the crank or cam position sensor signal is totally different, I don't know.

Quite possibly. You could even use a copperhead pcm if wanted to.
