OH SHIT!Gotta watch the back side of that cutoff wheel. I was grinding on a bracket once and didn't realize I was cutting through an a/c line on the back side. I was quite surprised when it cut through and depressurized and sprayed green shit all over me.
I did the while thing with a dremel.

Since you had the front of the motor completely torn apart, did you replace the oil pump gears?
Price of the cover aside, how much more work is it to just replace the timing cover with this "pre grinded" cover, rather than try and grind down the one on the car?
using the machined cover keeps from amking a mess under the hood.
hardest part of cover changer is pulling the crank dampner off
