Ouch, how did this happen? You know im starting mine friday and dont want this to happen...

Don't be scared LOL. I wasnt paying attention plain and simple used a cut off wheel that worked perfect on the 2 that had to get cut off all the way and should have used something way smaller on the one that basically gets cut in half.

Gotta watch the back side of that cutoff wheel. I was grinding on a bracket once and didn't realize I was cutting through an a/c line on the back side. I was quite surprised when it cut through and depressurized and sprayed green shit all over me.

I did mine with an angle grinder with a regular metal grinding wheel (not a cutoff wheel), those thin cutoff wheel slice through thin aluminum pretty quick - as you seen.

Myself I would order a nicely done pre-cut cover or trim a newer cover with a mill or something. That way if you decide to part it and sell it off in the future it wont scream it had a blower on there. At least you had most of the front already taken apart :)

So, based on the amount of work involved, you would not recommend just putting a "pre-grinded" timing cover on the car in the first place?

Looking back it wasn't that bad. Either or. Just be careful if you cut it while it's on there. And don't use a cut off wheel

Got it all put back together. Decided to add a little color.

Price of the cover aside, how much more work is it to just replace the timing cover with this "pre grinded" cover, rather than try and grind down the one on the car?

using the machined cover keeps from amking a mess under the hood.

hardest part of cover changer is pulling the crank dampner off

Is the balancer drilled and tapped, or did you need a 3 jaw puller?

I want to install billet oil pump gears and I haven't looked at the balancer yet.
