So on a street driven DD higher lift is the better way to go?
higher rpms = new oil pump gears too.
What about the valve springs on these? I know jegs has a kit with springs and cams (exhaust only) for $212 and if springs are needed can they be done with the heads on? But the ones I was looking at where the stock lift 290 duration ones, has anyone used the stock gt springs with these?
Mine has seen 2k miles of 7,900rpm abuse with stock oil pump gears and not missed a lick! N/A I don't see it being a issue.

I swapped to the boss springs when doing my exhaust cams since I was doing the CJ swap as well and wanted to be able to rev it past 7500 to get the benefit of the intake. All work can be done with heads one, will need a spring compressor tool if swapping springs. Freedom Racing is where I got mine.
Not to get flamed on this one, but has anyone seen this from MMR, and what are your guy's thoughts? Since we are talking about oil gears.

Thanks, just ordered a set from Jegs with the springs. Plan on doing the oil pump gears, cams, springs, and a boss intake all at the same time.
Is it just these 2 spots on both heads that need clearancing on the exhaust side of the head?

My 2/12 built 12 GT has the clearance AND oil squirter deletes already built in. They're already cut as the pictures show in your link. I'll have to get the pictures from my Ipad.
Now that I know that, I'm thinking I'm going to buy the boss intake cams as well......have to call the machine shop!
Seems some aftermarket cams are quite a bit heavier than stock ford cams which has to be harder on parts. Also curious if the ramp rate on the 13mm/263 cams would cause more stress on the chains, sprocket, and springs making the stronger piece by MMR a good idea, especially when boosted with lots of cylinder pressure.
I'm pretty dumb when it comes to this stuff but good to hear other's thoughts/experience. I'm giving the 11mm/290 exhaust cams a try in my car with stock intake cams. I am running limiters but hopefully still enough variable left that we can play with overlap if needed. Seems single/twin/backpressure/etc all impacts what is a good cam choice for turbo cars. Pain to change if the car doesn't like the cams, but at $150 I had to give them a try and see.
Can you either post or pm me results vs. stock cams? I'm not sure what exhaust cam im wanting to use for my turbo combo.
