Ok, do you think it is wise to put a stock GT500 on the dyno, that has 100k miles?
1: Will it survive?
2: Is the data gathered thorough enough to help locate problems that an A.S.E. Mechanic could find anyway?
3: Do they help tweak or just point you in the right direction?

Thanks.

If it was well well care of? 100k has just barely broken it in. It'll be fine.

A Dyno isn't usually used to find issues, I wouldn't think. It's used as either a benchmark, or as a tuning aid.

Can be both. They are probably more famous for hurting a lot of feelings after people Dyno and find out their car makes way less than they though.

It would depend on what problem you're trying to find. If you're concerned about the health of the motor, a red-line pull may not be your 1st choice..

A dyno session can tell you a lot about how your engine is running. The operator / tuner can do a data log and see if it's running rich/lean and a bunch of other things can be observed.
Like was said above, a dyno session is usually just 1-2 runs (for a GT500 it would be done in 4th gear since it's the 1:1 ratio), and the operator gets it to a certain RPM then floors it to redline, which should be 6250 for a GT500.

If the car is running like crap, wide-open-throttle is not advised.

This is my wife's GT500 on the dyno, a couple years ago:
