Edelbrock Water Pump No Weep Hole

Have a 2006 GT and as the thread indicates, I ordered an Edelbrock water pump back in July along with Cold Case radiator (never got around to putting either into the car yet) Anyway on the pump, unlike even the preview shots of it from the vendor (AM) there is no weep hole anywhere on the body of the pump.

I've contacted AM asking as to why (no explanation) The water pumps I've been familiar with in the past are for the old pushrod stuff with gaskets. These are just O ring sealed. Anybody know what the situation is with lack of weep hole? Thanks.

I've googled up a storm and found nothing. The number I will possibly try later. I'm just curious if I have some rare one-off factory defect or something.

I dinged that number (press 8 for water pumps) Worse than unemployment. Half hour of listening to the hold jingle before I just hung it up. I've had enough time wasted without that. The entire aftermarket is going like this, from SCT to whoever.

I ordered a set of Howards cams from the AM site back in the summer. Out of the box one was scored deep (as if somebody put a vice grip to it on the firewall end) Got a full refund, but zero explanation as to how that was even possible for a set of supposedly 'new' $700 buck cams.

My SCT X4 took a dump. The OBDII hookup functions, but on the computer end to transfer a tune, it would not function whatsoever. Tried every cord in my house, went out bought cords, ordered the correct cord from SCT (nothing) I had SCT literally take over my PC, they couldn't figure out what was going on with it.

So for 40 bucks, I mailed the thing cross country to SCT and received an email back essentially that said, pay us an additional $200 bucks with no reason as to why it even quit functioning. I told them no, mail it back. So I don't even have a tuner I can drop any revised tunes to ($700 bucks for that garbage along with the airaid intake)

I've already been issued full refund for the water pump through AM, but called Edelbrock just out of curiosity. But a half hour and counting on a line? I don't have the time for that today. No faith in a lot of this aftermarket stuff anymore. I miss the old stuff honestly, where the extent of a computer was an easy distributor module.

I would expect more from Edelbrock. They have been a proven and reputable company for close to 100 years.

No freeze plug. Just the four bolt up holes. And to the other commenter, yeah I bought idk how many Edelbrock carbs in the past (never an issue)

Only thing odd I can recall, I bought a set of the chromed out autogauge triples back in 1996. Never hooked them up, I went with non-chromed black autometer doubles instead (oil & water) mainly for aesthetic reasons in a chevelle. Ended up giving the autogauges to a friend for his F250 truck (brand new over the counter) He came back to me and said he couldn't get any of the gauges to work, including the volt gauge. He was a mechanic at Tonkin Dodge out west here and it's no task at all to hook up a mechanical gauge. I can't vouch for it because I just took his word, but he had no reason to make it up. Other than that never an issue (summit, Baxter auto) it was all solid stuff.

I have called Edelbrock CS twice in the past month for help with my supercharger. 10 minutes both times and the guy emailed me wiring schematic for MAF sensor. Sorry you are having problems.

Experiencing high volume calls. Timing I guess. But yeah, the stocker has a weep hole as does the preview of the Edelbrock on the AM site.

Had to use borescope to see behind pulley. No hole was visible.

Edelbrock pump? First pic is the stocker, second is the Edelbrock. Also as indicated, there's a weep hole on the pump advertised on site @ AM. Honestly, if given some explanation as to perhaps it's not really required somehow, I'd bolt it up to the car vs the refund.

Never seen a H2O pump without a weep hole. Maybe they didn't feel it was necessary. You know like a tranny dipstick went by the wayside. Shit, my friends mercedes doesn't have an oil dipstick, at least I couldn't find it.

My Audi came with an oil plug in the dipstick. I just bought a dipstick from an early model and now I can check my oil level. What rocket scientist thought of this is beyond my comprehension.

Many Water pups for years always had a weep hole. It allows for pressure to release so the pump does not explode during a failure. I work for Ford so I know all about the Dip stick issue. On a Mercedes ther is no dipstick. You fill with the specific amount of oil suggested and electronically check to verify it is full.

Put the new Edelbrock pump in the drill press, and drill ur own weep hole.
