I find it odd that your motor and NjSGT were both running a JDM tune and both ran into problems this wknd.

Still a dumbass.

Can't wait to see what you come up with Cory

you talking to me, shit for brains? how is suggesting improving his setup "dumbass"?

his engine to include heads is trashed. most blowers can be bolted to a different manifold and still work fine.

I don't find it all that odd honestly. It's real simple. I exceeded what the engine could handle and it exploded. When removed the pistons there was no visible signs of detonation. I'm not sure what else could cause the failure. I had the car dyno'd a couple times and the A/F looked solid.

I just found out this morning that my buddy with a 01 Cobra 'vert with a Procharger popped his motor this weekend. He claims he wasn't horsing around and was about to pour it on in 2nd gear.

Said it added extra ventilation to his block and spit out a hunk of piston. It was still rollin' stock rods and pistons, which I warned him about a year ago right after he bought it.I said pay whatever it costs to put good rods and pistons in that thing now. He ignored me and now he will have to sell his GSXR1000 to fix the car.

IIRC Cory's (op) blew a while back...?

Have you priced out all the parts necessary to make the swap, as well as the labor involved?

Define "improved".

Series VI bolted to a 4v? You are a fucking IDIOT, STFU and troll somewhere else.

Those pics look awfully familiar haha! Some of those pics look just like my old motor. 6 months later, Im finally driving mine again. Hope yours goes alot faster and smoother than mine..

what are your new plans are far as powerwise? If your going forged, you need to turn the boost up to get your money worth..just my .02

How many miles on that beast bro? any racing?

Some street racing and a few track days nothing. 12K miles on the car.

It actually blew up last October (2010). Expect to spend 8 to 10K to do right.

Hoping for somewhere between 650 to 700 rwhp.

The build plan and mod list goes like this:

JDM Built 302 short block (1000hp rated)
JDM Comp Custom Cams
Saleen VI Blower
3.0 Pulley 13.5psi
Overdriven Crank Pulley (Increase boost)
60lbs Injectors
GT-500 Fuel Pumps Kit
Saleen Extreme CAI
Kooks 1 3/4" Heads with offroad xpipe
Saleen 6.5 Blower Lid
Throttle Body FRPP

Several other mods, but they don't directly effect HP output.

TELL THEM YOU WANT DAMN ARP BOLTS!!!!!!

they do not come with it and they will try and tell you that you dont need them....

also some things to consider:
dual boost a pump
upgraded MAF
heat exchanger
extra coolant tank for supercharger or tank in trunk
DO NOT USE THE KOOKS exhaust manifold gaskets (USE OEM)
upgrade to 8 rib

If I remember correctly the crank bolts are stock and the rod bolts are ARP. This doesn't bother me.

The Saleen Extreme CAI comes with a larger MAF.
An upgraded heat exchanger will come in the near furture. Probably the dual fan afco unit.
Already have the larger coolant tank in place of the battery
I've heard not to use the Kooks gaskets before LOL. This doesn't surprise me actually.
I don't have any plans to do this, but maybe in the future. This project has been really expensive so far.

the only bolts on their engines are the connecting rods...If you plan on pushing anywhere near 650-700, I would not put the factory TTY bolts in...ATLEAST add in the ARP head bolts. Look up username SherrodMustang and his recent post. Brand new B302 w/ stage2 livernois heads. Used the tty bolts and he has to completely redo his entire engine due to his heads lifting. I have a brand new Saleen Speedlab 95mm Cold Air Intake Kit with High Flow MAF for sale. I'm sure we could work something out if you're interested.

I'll look into it. Thanks for the advice. Can you PM why you canceled your JDM order?

Good luck with the build! Been down this road and tried the Saleen supercharger at its max!

You will make nothing close too 650-700rwhp with this setup. I ran a 2.8 pulley and 18% overdrive and made best of 590's rwhp with all kinds of mods.

Also take it from me. I think the tty bolts are good for the power the Saleen will make okay, but pushing it at max boost levels. Don't even think you are going to run 17+psi of boost and have it too hold together with tty bolts long if you plan on upgrading from the Saleen supercharger.

If it was me, upgrade the bolts and play it safe. Don't accept anything else! Decide what power you want. The Saleen is not going to make anymore than around 600rwhp. Unless you run method or race gas or something else. It just doesn't have the efficiency to make more than 15-16psi of boost, I seen 15.3psi on my build.

If you have any questions feel free to ask me, glad to help!
