Well Ive been beating on it for three years . Last night I was talking to my Friend and Engine builder Tim Eichhorn to congratulate him on his Bradenton weekend record MPH mark , and I jinxed myself telling him how after 3 years car is still running strong.
Today drove the car around like normal and started to notice that it sounded like it was on 7 cyclinders . I thought maybe I needed to change out the plugs , b/c Ive noticed the car running much richer with the new aeromotive pumps when under boost . My a/f was at 10.0 to 10.20 so thats not normal , usually its in the 11.6 to 11.8 at WOT.
So I get home and change out the plugs they all looked like they have been in there for a week instead of 2 months.
So I then went to my Buddy Willie Figueroa's house to have him plug in a Ford IDS. We noticed right away that # 5 was weaker then the rest . We changed out coil packs to eliminate a bad coil and still #5 was weak . Checked the injectorsand they are fine .
We also ran a relative compression check thru the IDS and all cylinders were at 0% compression loss .
I have had some smoke at start up and I was thinking maybe a valve seal or guide was going bad so tomorrow Ill take the valve cover off to check . I hope its something simple .

Ill post pictures of what I find .

Does anyone have anything similar happen to them . The car idles fine just a small miss.

I'd do a physical compression test. I've had the IDS not identify a weak cylinder before. Compression test verified a weak cylinder, turned out I had a broken ring land.

I had similar symptoms, but I had oil on the plug in that cylinder. I also had excessive crankcase pressure, not a lot, just more than normal.

Thanks will do , I didn't notice oil on the plug looked normal , so I'll do a Compression Test.

I think it's time for new followers and cams. those look pretty grooved up to me. With the power your making it would you should play it safe. was the second picture of #5 or #6 cylinder?

i would check your coil drivers in the pcm. it may be that the pcm died.

any lower engine noise?

They are pics of #5 , Im taking the car to MAK Performance Friday ,my buddies shop and we will leak down all 8 to see were we're at.

From what I understand the problems people are having with the followers are usually cammed cars , not stock cammed cars. I maybe wrong ?

Either way if the leakdown shows a definate problem with the cylinder then the motor will be coming out to freshen up .

The engine is very quite , no valvetrain noise , sounds stock . Very strange , idle is good just a slight miss from time to time .
I hope after the comp check that we find comp good because then the problem would have to be a injector.

We did a complete diagnostics with the IDS and there were no codes .

Do a leakdown test as well while your trying to diagnose the problem unless the compression test tells you what you need to know.

As to your statment with the followers being on cammed cars...unfortunately no. My car is not cammed, my mazda was is not cammed, the f150s with this problem are stock cams, and many mustangs are stock cammed with this problem :( But your followers are in once piece which is more than I can say for mine lol.
