OK, time to pick the brains of the masters. I am looking in to some SC kits. Probably a KB 2.6L. It seems that from brand to brand they all include about the same amount and type of hardware. Supposedly the kits include all you need from the fuel pump and injectors to drive belts and tunes.

I plan on installing Charge Motion Plate Deletes and installing a cam kit to help it breath a bit better.

My question is this; compared to stock, did any of you guys find that you HAD to do something to the top-end or bottom-end of your engines that was not included in the kit to run say 8 to 10 psi?

Thanks,
Spaz

delete plates not needed with kenne bell, cams your gonna most likely need springs and a custom tune to run it by itself or with the kenne bell. other than a forged bottem end they give you everything.

with a KB, Saleen, or Whipple delete plates aren't needed as you are removing the entire stock manifold, plates included, and replaceing it with a new one. Only if you were going centri, like procharger or vortech would you need delete plates.

cams right now are pretty useless considering the cost. yes i am putting a set of cams in my new motor, but that is because A. i don't want to reuse any parts from this motor, and B. i might as well cause ill need cams, even stock ones, during the build anyway.

Thanks for the heads-up on the delete plates. I missed that...

Cams are a bit high for a complete kit, but I was thinking it might be worth it for 10 to 15 more HP (and the lobe sound). I am a bit concerned about finding a reputable shop to do the tune though. The one recommended the most by guys at the local track is booked until December.

How many hours do you have on your current build?

Are you doing the new build for the next step in performance or are you seeing issues with the current build?

well the engine isn't in the car yet. waiting on Larry to deliver it to PMP where Josh and Kevin will be installnig it for me.

The only cam out there right now that will give you a nice lope is the BBR Stage 2 Blower Cam. Ive heard all 4 stages of the Compcams, and while they are good cams and do make power, the sound isnt there. The BBR's give you the lope your looking for

ive been through a few shops already and im not happy with any of them for tuning. I ended up having John Lund tune my car and it was the best thing i ever did. Best tune ive ever felt in my car

Not bad. The price is about $200 less because they are re-grinds. I found a few samples on YouTube - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=13pA6O0cmoA

LOL!!! It sounds like my Harley

The neighbors will love me when I leave for work at 4:30 AM...

I'll do a bit more research before I buy, but those do sound good. They claim 30-40 HP on an NA car. That seems high, but what do I know.

I really want to shop for HP and the sound would be a great perk. But if performance cam and good sounding cam are close in performance gain, then I will go for the sound.

Let me know how you like it when it's done. Any idean on an est. finish date?

Well you know how it is, you go with the S/C that is putting down the best drag times and you get what you get!

yea the one that cant go to 25psi lol

haahahaha...I never pegged you for being sarcastic

I've done fast 20 years ago. Now I still want to go fast, but I'm not gone freak if I drop .1 sec compared to some other cam, as long as the numbers are consistant and the car runs good.

The great part about Foot Brake ET, you can have the slowest car and still take home the money.

:trophy:

If I was running Head Up racing, maybe I would feel different. Besides, If I go from a 13.5 1/4 to a 12 or 11.5 1/4 I won't know what I'm missing anyway...

Ah.. spoken like a true advocate of the company that had to increase their blower size 3 times before they got the same power as the Saleen with the same PSI.
