So it happened, sold my 2002 CD silver SVT after twelve years of ownership. Best, most fun and reliable car I ever owned. Sad to see it go but the replacement was something I couldn't pass up. The new car isn't a big change though as you'll see below

it's a 2004 CD silver SVT, a few less miles and quite a bit cleaner than my old one which is going to be moving to northern Minnesota to live with another Focus enthusiast family. If I could have found a way to keep the 02 and buy the 04 I would have but there's simply no way.

Only issue with the new one is that something under the hood makes a whiney noise over about 3000 or so and it gets really loud up near redline, have to work on that a bit.

It's actually the second boosted Focus I've owned but the other is my sons turbo car.

Mine with the JRSC is only about 200whp but in a car this size it's a whole lot of fun.

Already swapped wheels, short throw, will be keeping the rack and my custom front grille but I'm leaving mine pretty much intact for the new owner simply because it is one of the best driving SVTs I've ever been in and is actually more responsive in the low and midrange than the new one is but that will just take a few tweaks to get it where it should be.

Edit- Made the decision to keep the stock wheels, there's just not that many relatively unmolested SVTs left out there and I do like these so it's going to look like this for a while.

Congrats on the new ride, Steve. I have always wanted to pick up a used SVTF, but just haven't had the right one come across my way at the right price.

I bet that thing is gonna be a blast with the blower. I assume torque steer is pretty bad, though?

No torque steer that I've noticed, no traction if 1st gear though. Pulls strong and straight in 2nd and 3rd.

My old one was a lot of fun, that's why it's been my daily for 12 years.

I have a '13 ST, and it's the best DD I've ever had. Love the Focus!

The new STs are nice and they are quick but they don't offer the same pure driving experience and connection to the road that you get with the Mk1 Focus and the SVT in particular.

They really are great drivers cars.

Interesting. I've never driven an older SVT, but I'd love to do a side by side comparison. The torque steer on mine is laughable. And fun. You should throw some Recaros in yours.

I had an 03 SVTF. It was a really fun car to drive, but I had problems with it. The dealer flashed it 3 separate times but it never went away. There was an intermittent stalling issue with mine. Nothing like taking off from a light and making a left hand turn, and the car stalls out mid turn. It always fired back up but it was still a bit scary.

Aside from that and the issue with the seats, the white stuff that showed up on the cloth middle part, I loved the car. Ended up trading it in on an Audi A4.

Nice, Steve. I've seen you driving around in your old car occasionally.

It's cool that you share the hobby/passion with your son too!

My sons car has torque steer with the turbo, not an issue with the JRSC because it's got much more linear power delivery.

No Recaros, the Mk1 Focus Recaros sit too high and being 6'6" I need every bit of headroom I can get.

A solid aftermarket tune is the answer, Mike at Unique Tuning in S.C. did mine and I've never driven a better tuned SVT. The stuff on the seats is annoying but is easily cleaned with mild soap and water and a damp cloth. Happens to all of them.

Thanks, so you venture into the deep South from time to time then do you? ;)

Congrats! Car looks good! I didn't know you guys were in WI. I'm from WI, but unfortunately for me I'm retiring in NJ because of the wife.

I'm not in Wisconsin, I live in Minnesota. Picked the car up from a long time customer in Wisconsin though.

I know it's confusing since Tasca is based out of Rhode Island but since the internet is everywhere I didn't have to move to work for the company. :)

Steve congratulations on the new car!

Thanks.
