UHG!!! That doesn't sound good at all! A friend of mine is suppose to bring his scanner over Friday so we can figure out what codes were tossed out. I don't have the rough idle cams and this doesn't happen in stop and go traffic like some other guys mentioned. Crossing my fingers it's something simple. Will contact Brenspeed again too just to double check with them based off some other info you guys posted on here.

Hope I'm not buying a new trans anytime soon!!!

Thanks,
Brandon

Being an '08 you should still be in warranty

Doug fixed mine, it has to do with cars with CAMS, for some reason at slow speeds when the cars momentum is moving forward there is a sensor that detects the converter turning faster than the engine. this will give you the flashing OD light. My trans was a new 2008 when it did this, I somtimes got a P0745 CEL. I thought too that is was a trans failure but it turned out to be a tuning issue.

Good Luck

Doug fixed mine also - it was tune related.

Yeah since my car had cams installed, it had the O/D light flashing everytime, so I was like wtf ? I used BBR tune and I spoke with Chris, about my problem, he sent me I think like 7 different tunes and they all had my O/D light flashing and also I cant even do a burnout because the car would fall into failsafe mode, anyway I just gave up and thought it was just the trans problem since I know the fluid its burnt and recently had some "flares" while flooring the car and when it had to shift from 2-3, but before the cams I could do burnouts and I never had the O/D light flashing EVERY time i drive the car for 5 mins, even though with the burnt fluid.

but now you guys made me think about it again ...

so which cams do you have?

I have Comp 127200 NSR

does the OD light come on when you coast, like in traffic or down a hill? if thats when you notice it then it's the sensor
causing the issue. I would shut the car off and restart it, the light would go away, then 5 min lator bam there it is again..
I do not remember the setting that needs to be changed but it's set to sensitive.

yes exactly thats how I get it and do you mean by "sensor
causing the issue" that I have a faulty sensor or that a setting in the tune should be changed in particular for this problem?

My Brenspeed tune only does it in heavy stop and go traffic, but it's fine when coasting downhill. What little I used my BBR tune, it did it while coasting downhill riding the brake. I never got to try it in stop and go (I wouldn't want to since the idle is all over the place).

I still believe it's vacuum related since a large amount of brake is being used when this happens. Vacuum is the only thing that changes and this problem happens only after cam install.

A P0745 is not about the TCC though. That's a problem with the line pressure solenoid. It happens when the line pressure is too low which I'm sure is related from a signal sent from the PCM derived from the vacuum signal sent from the (edit: some sort of sensor, apparently not MAP). Although, perhaps this same signal is causing the TCC to do weird things as well.

I just thought of something. What if it thinks this only because the signal it's getting from the PCM LOOKS like the engine is spinning slower because the vacuum is lower? The engine actually is not spinning slower b/c adding cams would not suddenly make that happen. That would not make sense. Just like adding cams would not somehow make the TCC suddenly spin faster. But the lower vacuum they make you have could "simulate" that from the PCM's point of view. See what I mean?

That or a pump.

The vacuum can may just delay the problem a few minutes down the road. But I have not tried it yet so I can't say for sure. It would be a cheap fix if it did end up working.

I was looking at a vacuum pump by comp cams on JEGS yesterday and it will keep your vacuum between 18 to 22 inches which is close to stock vacuum. This might be the best out of the two, but it's like $300. :/

But after talking to Doug and getting the corrected tune from him, both issues went away.. he saus it's nothing wrong with the trans it's all in the tune and can be corrected. I do not remember the setting that needs to be changed in the tune. I would ask Doug, he has a Fix for it.

Luckily I do have a tune from Doug and it has not given me the flashing O/D so far (except for the first tune he gave me, but supposedly this has been corrected since then). The bad thing about my latest Bama tune is the start up idle is WAAAAAY too high. I'm still waiting for Doug to send me an update. It's been two weeks but the delay is obvious b/c of the holidays.

The bad thing is my Brenspeed and BBR tunes feel a lot more powerful than my Bamachip tune but those tunes currently give the problem. Supposedly, the problem is less likely to happen the higher the idle is. I recently put my Brenspeed tune back in and raised the idle to 850 from 750. So far so good but I have not been in heavy stop and go traffic yet, which is where this issue is triggered. Unfortunately, a 750 idle sounds better, lol! :)

Determining the cause and what the fix is has been driving me mad. Another thing I have noticed is that it seems only those using email tunes have this problem. I have not heard yet one person with a dyno tune mention this issue. Very strange indeed.

When I had my Hotrod cams put in I had a Bama tune (race) and got the O/D/ light flashing in stop and go traffic and sometimes coasting. I had Doug send me several tunes and same thing, light would flash. Then a member of this forum sent me a PM and had a fix, if I remember correctly he either knew or knew a Ford tech that was able to figure it out. He had a car (Auto) to use as a test vehicle that was doing this same thing after installing these cams. Well this member then contacted Matt (no longer with Doug) and shared the info. Matt sent me a new tune and no more light. Since then I have had this member send me a tune (purchased) and I have had 5 revisions from datalogs and fine tuning plus I added delete plates. The car is much more of a beast then when it had Dougs race tune. I bought this tune off of this member because it was at the point that Doug was going thru all his troubles and I was tired of waiting weeks for responces thru either calling or emailing him. I will not mention this member but will PM you who it is. Now from what I understand manual cars do not have any of these problems with the Hotrod cams from what the original installer of mine told me.

Its something to do with the shift point failure values or something like that. Since these cams lope so much those values are tweaked a little to compensate.

I'm pretty sure you already mentioned who on the first page of this thread. :boobies:
