FML!!! Another problem... What to do with the Blower now!?!?

So I pulled the blower off the motor tonight and noticed there was a bunch of oil in the upper valley of the block. I found that to be very strange and knew it had to be from the Supercharger. Especially after seeing all those pieces in it. So now the problem is that I have oil in the screws of the supercharger.

(Looking at the pic) Does this sound logical... When the motor blew, the engine oil spat up through the intakes of the blower and drained itself down through the intercooler (arrows) into the screw where it is now resting (circle in pic)? When I spin the blower, I can hear the slashing. What really worried me was then I was spining it around, there was a moment when the blow got tight as if I was tightening a bolt and then free'd itself. It seems to me maybe a small piece of debry got in there as well....

So now how do I take this thing apart to drain the oil and check for chunks?

Is it possible to have gotten a chunk of the motor thru the intercooler into the rotor section, or a piece of the intercooler? That would explain the binding of the rotors.

Damn, don't cut corners now---you have to take apart everything and clean---i thought you had done that already? Last thing you need is small pieces tearing up the rotors....

Well looking at the way the saleen is constructed I didn't believe that anything could get down there. Didn't even think about the oil until I turned the pulley and heard the sloshing of it. But yeah, I won't cut corners. Trust me on that, that's why the motor isn't in the car yet... I am not doing this a 3rd time.

found some good information. Took it apart this morning. Glad I did, there was easily a half a quart of oil in there. As soon as I pulled the screws out oil poored out of the screw chamber.

I am waiting on some Flange Sealant to come in, then I will put it back together. I also need to buy a bigger socket so I can get the two intercooler couplers off the front in order to take the intercooler out.

$70 worth of oil and sealant and it will all be fixed up.

So the screws look ok and it was only oil in there that you can tell so far? I hope that is all you end up finding.

Looks like some debri got into the screw. There are some scratch marks on them. Nothing that is protruding. Just marks. I think they are fine though.

Damn, you can't get a break with these builds it seems like. Best of luck with the reassembly... My intake had over a quart of oil in it when I removed it after the engine blew. Along with shards of my motor and the piston it tore apart.

Shit...I had to rebuild both turbos and have the intercooler flushed to get all the crap out of them.

I bet the reason the blower got "tight" when you turn it was becasue it was trying to compress a liquid (oil)...which is not good. Glad you got it all out and didn't let it flush itself on the initial "new" startup...could have been ugly.

Got it all cleaned up and back together. Turned with ease now... Motor goes back in tomorrow.
