Ok, heres my official thread. I know its been often discussed but im about to do it. Buying that 3v "aluminator" block. Heres the details:

07 GT Manual
FRPP Whipple HO Kit
8-rib belt setup with thumprrr tensioner
FRPP supercharger shortblock
Staying stock cam stock head for now

Thats all thats set in stone for now. Im gonna order the motor shortly. Id like to go over the rest of what needs to get done as this is my first motor pull out/build project.

I was told to take the heads off and send them out to be decked. So I will do that. Any advise on that? Im guessing i will then need new head gaskets and head studs. Reccomendations? New timing chains needed? Upgrades available there? Anything else I will need (regarding putting the heads back on)?

- Swap out the OEM main bolts with ARP.
- If you plan on adding cnc heads later then get ARP head bolts since they are reusable and the factory bolts are one time use.
- ARP hardware where applicable but thats personal choice
- GT500 oil pump with billet gears
- Wouldn't hurt to change timing chains and guides but thats up to you.

I've read on here and been told that OEM head gaskets work great. You can also use cometic but go with what you're comfortable with. Do a search on GT500 oil pump. Lots of info on that

Have them checked for flatness. I wouldn't go milling anything substantial from them but a skim cut helps. Plus, it puts a surface finish on the deck so the head gasket seats well.

Ford OEM head gasket. ARP head studs.

New timing chains needed?
How many miles on the chains? You might want to change the tensioners to the earlier style cast iron units.

Whats the deal with a gt500 oil pump? This block comes wiht a new GT one already installed.
Same thing really. Just take it apart and install new billet gears from Triangle Speed Shop. Cheap insurance.

Chains should be fine. I'd inspect them to be sure but you should be ok. I'd still change the tensioners.

Well, PFSracer was running 18 psi and making about 600 whp with it.

Good call on the aluminator shortblock, you know that it's been built correctly with quality parts.
