heres a teaser.

Does anyone object to me lifting a motor from these pulley bosses? Is there a better way that I should use when im pulling the longblock outta the car?

Not when the motor is torn down that much. It doesn't weigh much at that point.

well when im pulling the other one out, itll still have the heads on it. is there a better bolting point for the chains/

Are you dropping the trans first? Or pulling it all out as one?

I use a brace that bolts to the top two tabs on the front of the engine, and the top two trans bolt holes, then the chain connects in the middle.

Aside from using one of those braces, I'd still use those same top mounting points.

Here's mine:

Heres my opinion...I would worry about damaging the gasket surface where the chain is hitting. @ least get some large rubber hose to keep the chain away from scratching your gasket surface. Its aluminum so it will get damaged easily with a steel chain.

Exactly. I'd more prefer using the top two alternator mounting points.

i was worried about marring the sealing surface too. good idea with the rubber hose.

explicit - what were you linking me to? the frpp 9.8cr motor? Also, I had no idea how similar my build is to yours. Like literally...every concern I have, you have documented in your thread.

So heres my question. Id rather pull the trans with the motor all as one. Did you have to remove the radiator support, or no. Just came out?

I had the fan shroud out and the radiator. The support was still in and so was the K-member (which made it a little harder) If I did it again, I would have the K-member lowered a bit.

For all the 3V's I've done, and just as the pic I posted above, I pull the motor and trans as an assembly. I don't have to pull the radiator, or touch the kmember or anything else. Other than the motor mount brackets binding up on the motor mount studs, they come out reasonably easy.

ok so i PROMISE pics are coming, but the motor, trans, headers blower DID come out in one piece. And my block IS cracked. Bummer. Not that it matters for this build, but i had dreams of stuffing it in a fox
