Very cool. It sounds like some of you have had good luck with minimal mods.

We do get some great air in the Spring and Fall. When it is 50 for the high and no humidity... as long as the track get's to about 70 degrees, you start seeing some dead hooks and great improvements in ET's compaired to summer. I hear a lot of people shouting out new "personal best" ET's around the end of October, start of November.

mark if im thinking of the same " chick " jroc is talking about she's no average chick ...... was it a vista blue auto j ? if so that's my tuners wife and yes she can drive last i heard was a 13.4 bone stock down to the airbox with a dyno tune , another guy ( matt ) ran a 13.2 with k&n intake and a offroad x pipe and wes' tune , the chick was a auto and matt is a stick car

and believe you me i was pissed best i could muster was a 14.2 stock lol , but i also had never raced a day in my life nor knew how to drive the car well yet ....i'll try to find the vids they have them posted somewhere

matt's car http://www.tpsperformance.com/blog/customers/2008-ford-mustang-gt/

wes' better half car http://www.tpsperformance.com/blog/customers/2007-ford-mustang-gt/

no the car was black and she was skinny with glasses. the car you are talking about is wes's wifes car. i ran 13.3 with a jlt, x pipe, and wes's tune.

every car is different, every day, the weather, humidity, time the car cooled down before the run, temp, etc. Makes for many different variables. My car bested a 12.3X @112 with Only a JLT, bamachips tune, 4.10's and a x-pipe with borlas, on 26 inch et streets on prostars. (full weight also, only weight reduction was prostars).

Now this was with good track prep, a fairly cold night, no wind. etc

wow, thats faster than most guys with blowers..How in the hell does a 300 whp car trap faster than a 450 +whp car? I guess the track and weather conditions make alot of difference..

weather, track prep, and driver all being the best in the same day is like winning the lottery.

Hmm...I guess I underestimated the s197. I was looking for low to mid 13. I just purchased some BBR stage one cams with the lockouts, and the rest of the gameplan was a C&L with tuning, 4.10 gears and a TCI 3000. Guess thats a bit of overkill? Lol. Oh well...that never hurt anybody

why stage 1 w/ full lockouts... you are leaving 30tq and/or 30hp and ALOT under the curve... overkill; yes.

Went 12.8 with the following mods.

1. BMR lower control arms
2. JLT intake with SCT X3 preloaded tune
3. Mickey Thompson ET Streets.
4. 4.10 gears.

The race weight was a little over 3700 with me in it. If it wasn't so hot and humid that day 12.7 would have been possible.

The car ran 13.7-13.8s all day when it was bone stock.

I think it's possible to get 12s on a "stock" car with computer changes and losing a few things but you will be pulling some tricks (Chad you know what I'm talking about). It is the little details that add up.

Everyone wants to think they are John Force but in reality they are more akin to being a driver like me . I've had the opportunity to ride with quite a few people after we finish up their tuning. It is amazing what a great driver that knows the car can do. To attempt a bad pun, I am floored with the ability that some guys have.

Down here in Louisiana we deal with rapid changes in the Density Altitude. Here's a great site to go look up historical DAs at many tracks and run some #s: http://www.dragtimes.com/da-density-altitude-calculator.php (thanks Kenneth for the link)

Are the #s gospel truth? Probably not since there is more to it than a simple calculator can give you (think cooldown, gearing, aero etc) but it will give you something to chew on. Play with the #s a bit.

Weight reduction is huge on these cars and driving even more important. What is all boils down to is working yourself and learning the car all while having fun in the process. If you lose sight of the fun factor chasing a number then it is all for naught.

You got it man, this is the key. You learn as much as you can as you go. Never think you have learned it all either. The driver mod had to constantly improve, even when it gets hot, and ets go up. In the heat these cars do not do well. I will probably wait till it cools down a lot to go back to the track. Don`t want to be harder on the car than what it can take. I go when it is hot just to have some fun and blow off some steam.I do not expect great ets though. I race cars and work on my reaction time. That is fun.
Oh and something else, not all of these cars came from the factory with the same Hp output. It is well known that there is a big variance in hp in each car.

I think the lockouts kill your lower end hp/tq numbers because they don't allow the variable came adjustment that happens on these engines, I also don't think they are necessary with the stage 1 cams but I could be wrong on both accounts? I am still researching these fancy 3v's I am used to my simple push rod 5.0

your cam is similar to mine; just a little upgrade over stock... thus, can still benefit from variable valve timing...
I used limiters just to be safe, but people have used .49 lift cams w/ full use of variable timing w/o issue.

I must have a factory freak that is unusually slow...

I see guys like Chad and Matt and I want to light my car on fucking fire! The amount of hardware I have added to my car is borderline absurd, and I am running 12.5's. WTF? Can I really be that bad a driver?

I need to put a "good driver" in the driver's seat of my car and see what happens.
