My car recently started making a groaning noise when I turn the wheel a certain direction(first it was right and now it's left) at low speeds or stopped. It's a very short groan but it is loud from inside the car. I just flushed my ps fluid and it still makes the noise. Car has over 110k on the clock. Any of you car gurus advice would be great. Thanks.

since it happens when the car is stopped, can you have someone turn the wheel while you poke around in the engine compartment to listen to where its coming from exactly? Im thinking power steering pump

Sounds like the rear end, clutch packs might be rubbing together. Had those exact same symptoms on my car when I first purchased it.

Go to ford and buy a $4 bottle of friction modifier and squeeze that into the diff. Should stop it. Worked for me

The rear end won't groan at a stand still. If the noise is only when you move the wheel my guess would be the steering pump as well.

I just had this problem a few months ago. Check the tie rod ends. The "boot" on mine was broken and had allowed water and other grime in. Mine looked like this.

Spray some white lithium grease in there and no more noise. I replaced these asap however it did allow me to figure out where the noise was coming from.

It could be wheel bearing too. Mine did that and found out that the bearing was gone. Replaced the hub and all was well again. Now I have a clunking sound like a bad tie rod. Crap...
