Help a Marine Roush-Charge his 5.0!

All,

A buddy of mine is currently deployed on an amphibious assault ship. He bought a Base White Auto 2011 5.0 right before he left and is now he and I are planning a parts list to Roush-Charge the sucker when he gets home.

So far it looks like this:

Roush 2.3L TVS Supercharger Auto Tuner Kit (7psi)
SCT Xcal 3 with Lund tune
Aeroforce Ford Interceptor Gauge
Roush Vent Gauge
Aeroforce 2 Bar MAP Boost/Vacuum Sensor Kit
JLT Big Air Plastic Intake
Lethal Off-Road H Pipe
3.73 FRPP Gears

Only current mods are Hushpower A/B's and he will be upgrading to some bigger rubber aswell. I told him to look into a higher stall and LCA's in the future.

Is that all we need to make the aeroforce gauge work? Main things to monitor are AFR, Boost, and IAT.

Please give any feedback or advice so I can help make this as painless as possible for him while he is deployed!

I've spoke to him and met him personally when he dyno tuned my sixxer a few years ago. Hes a good guy, knows his stuff and has always helped me out when I needed a tune update or just to bullshit about new trends. He seems to like the TVS and reccomended it so...

Last time we spoke he said he has something in the works

I don't know if the control arms are an issue in the 5.0s. If I were doing all of that, I'd definitely do LCAs right of the bat for traction.

What are his goals?

3.73 and stall are going to be hard to hook up on the street.

I havent watched mine to see what stall the stock convertor hits, but it's good enough for 1.57 60" with the stock rear gear and 26.4" tire.

If he keeps the stock pulley he will probably put down more HP than my car with the 82mm pulley, stock airbox and exhaust. That and little lighter car (mine is a premiuim) should knock 2 to 4 tenths off my ET. If he can hook with gears and stall, even faster still. Go smaller on the pulley and oh boy will it make power!

My car has a completely stock suspension.

Aeroforce, I have the same setup. I havent paid any attention to IAT, what I remember is that it always read ambient temp when I looked at it. There's alot of readings in the AF that are basically are worth nothing, hopefully someday AF will update the guage firmware for the 2011+ and we will be able to use the gauge fully. So my display is set for Vacuum/Boost and AFR on one bank or the other. You'll need a screw in nipple fitting to go in the intake (rear passenger side) and a vacuum line to run to the MAP sensor.

Ok sounds good. The stall would be later anyway so well see what happens with the stock setup. The car will be mostly street with the occasional trip to the track to have some fun. I like my 3.31s on my manual for the street with the new six speed... I agree he should go 3.31 or 3.55. I'm guessing he would be thrilled to see a 10 second ET...

Does it really matter? He prefers the sound of the H.

a couple horsepower on the top end, but nothing amazingly restrictive. SVT Performance did back to back dynos on the H vs. X.

What wheel tire setup would you guys reccomend for the street? He is thinking about 18x9" wide in front and 18x10" in the rear. I advised to go the same all the way around for handling purposes over looks. He is leaning towards the Nitto 555 extremes from American Muscle as of now, but will consider others per some reccomendations. He wants good trction! Obviously...

That all looks good! My 5.0 with the TVS2300 was Mr. Lunds first tune for that setup. My car was the beta. He did a great job!! He even updated the tune recently after more experience with the setup. Can't beat his tunes!

555's are fine for the front, I have those, but they wont be nearly enough for the rear. It's going to need a drag radial. You can just drive on the stock wheels and tires, I'm doing that now (winter wheels), but it's wheelspin at about any speed if you kick it. It's going to have more than 400 lb/ft of torque anywhere in the curve, you need sticky tires to hook that up.
