help with fuse F2.17 not doing what its supposed to

ok so im trying to remove the silver trim out of the car for a project. the gauge cluster popped out no problem, however, the passenger side vent and the center 2 have 2 screws fastening to them underneath the air bag door, so everything says to remove fuse 17 out of the kick panel RCM fuse box. ive done so, and then they say to turn the key to the on position and watch the passenger side air bag off light, its supposed to stay on, but when i removed the fuse, and went to check the light, it would not turn on at all!!!

anyone have any other trouble?? is that ok that the light doesnt come on? i searched and all i could pull up was wiring diagrams and ive triple checked and i know i pulled the correct fuse!.. help!

The fuse removes power, so no light worky worky. Put the fuse back and see if it comes back on. Or just unplug the air bag. There is a plug going into the bottom/back of it, if you lower the glove box all the way open you can reach in and unplug it.

Ok so I put the fuse back and the light worked normal. So remove the fuse and then unplug the air bag? So is there any reason to unplug the negative battery terminal under hood?

i replaced my dash panels and followed the factory service manual procedure which includes removing the fuse disconnecting the neg battery cable and then unplugging the airbag connector.

Either one of these will prevent it from going off.

I removed mine without playing with any fuses.. just drop the glove box all the way.. disconnect it and unscrew and pop the thing out.. Its been a while so forgive me if I forgot a step.. or you can come over to my house tomorrow with a pack of menthol's ultra lights for my beer and we take it out.
