I see... Another reason why I am leary of a centri is because a friend of mine put a paxton on his 2010 GT. I know the 4.6L and 5.0L make power at different levels but on the 4.6 it felt like the car was only in boost very little time before he had to shift. Felt like a turd until around 4000 rpms...
mine feels like a turd until 4k but it still runs 9s.

James, they both are a super tight install. I had the Vortech and before I went with the procharger I almost went Paxton.

Paxton is a bigger head unit with more room to grow. With stock pulley paxton will make more power.

the 2200(paxton) and the V3(vortech) kits are the same price

if you upgrade to a JT trim (vortech) it adds 200 bucks i think.

The 2200 is = to a JT they are the same unit different label

plenty of vortech YES vortech V3 cars running 10's and 9's too

I agree. Until you increase boost a lot you will get the same power. My Vortech made 622/470 on the stock motor, stock pulley on a tight Mustang Dyno. That combo ran 10.20's with a converter, Too much gear (3.73), and long tubes at 1500 DA.

I am currently just under 700 rwhp (same tight Mustang dyno) on a Boss short block, still conservative tune, one pulley size down (12 lbs of boost), pump gas and 3.31 gears.

IMO, both make the same power up to a point. I doubt I will ever "need" a bigger SC. I get thrown out of every track now for not having a cert cage.

When buying mine I bought what was cheapest. I would do the same thing again....which ever one is cheapest.

Yes, the base kits are the same price, and the JT is an upgrade.

The JT however is not the same as the 2200 that comes with the standard paxton kit. Just wanted to clarify that a tiny bit.

The JT is an oil fed unit and has a different gear case. The JT is equal to the Oil Fed Paxton 2200, but that is not the same 2200 that comes with the Standard Paxton Kit.

The JT is what I have been running, until swapping over to the YSI.

You can get the oil fed units in the competition kits, including the ysi head unit.

The vortech / paxton competition kits come with the oil fed units, JT or 2200, 8 rib upgrade, and competition inlet. You have the option of going a step further to a YSI.

I tell most people, like Tony said, if your staying around stock boost levels, you will be fine with the vortech, because the head unit is smaller, doesn't mean it doesn't work well, it's closer to it's peak efficiency at the stock pulley, or down 1 size.

The Paxton def has more growing potential though.
