I don't have a pic now but in my last car it was in the passenger side foot well mounted along the side of the area where you put your feet. A lot like this one.

Just an idea here. I assume you will remove the passenger seat for weight reduction? You should be able to figure out a way to attach the extinguisher bracket to the bolt in the floor used to hold the seat. This way you can remove it after the run and not have new holes drilled in your car.

Couple of ways. Use one of those Corbeau harness bars and mount to it just like a roll bar, really a good idea to have a harness in the car at those speeds anyway. Or you can make a bracket that uses the front seat mounting holes on the driver side, that way it is right there in front of your seat should you need it.

If you are feeling lazy and don't want to fabricate a bracket for yourself, you can always get this.

It mounts to a bolt where the passenger seat bolts in.

Can be removed or left in the car all the time if it's your daily driver.

Wow that is a nice setup. Thanks for posting that I have been curious where to mount one and thought of this setup. The bracket price is worth buying instead of fabbing one like I had intended!

I might have to look into that. I still need to mount mine (probably needs a recharge). Don't race or anything but probably still not a bad idea to have one again.

I made a bracket for my Drivers seat. Using the two front seat bolts. The problem I had with the Passenger seat mount is it interferes with the forward motion of the manual seat and it is much harder to reach.

I used two steel L shaped brackets, an aluminum plate and a piece of 1" Oak round stock. Painted the whole assembly with Krylon black wrinkle finish paint. Same idea as the link above, but I like having both bolts and I copied aother existing designs, without the welding.

Since it seems that the link I posted got some interest, I just wanted to add that I purchased the extinguisher and mount from the link above prior to my Laguna Seca track day in November.

Have been very happy with it, and it got me through the tech inspection, it was the first track day I had done requiring an extinguisher, though I am sure it will become a requirement on more and more tracks.

I was happy with the service and the pricing from the seller.

I have power front seats and you lose a little bit of back and forth on the passenger seat, but I very rarely move it, so it's not a big deal. You still have some travel, but the seat will hit the extinguisher.

Do you have any pics of your car? I noticed on the Speedtactics website that they only show pics of the 1.5 lb tank installed. Do you have the 2.5?

+1 one less thing to fab! ;)

I haven't taken any pics installed, but I did buy it with the 2.5lb extinguisher and it fits just fine. Issues with fitment other than what I mentioned with it limiting the passenger seat travel some.

Easy, quality piece, and moar safety!

What about being able to reach it quickly and easily? Wouldn't it be better to have it in front of the driver seat? or is that illegal? (I was going to mount one to my roll bar.)

Roll bar is traditionally where it might mount, but if you don't have one, track rules state that it must be bolted to the metal body of the car in some way. In front of the passenger seat is most convenient, requires no permanent modification, and is easily accessible from the drivers seat.

I suppose that technically you could put it under the drivers seat, but I wouldn't want anything in the footwell besides my feet.

RIP - You will be missed
I wouldn't want anything possibly coming loose in the driver footwell. SCCA autocrossing requires even the driver's clip-retained floor mat be taken out.

Seems the simplest solution is obvious. Here's my DIY version (I had some 1/8" steel strap and some black paint handy). The "U" shaped piece at the sill side keeps the extinguisher from overloading the strap and the clip for the extinguisher neck. Full seat travel remains, nothing gets in the passenger's way, and it takes a 2.5-lb extingusher. Yeah, I need to re-spray it.

OK thanks for the update. No one really sits in the backseat of my mustang so if the seat on the passenger side needs to go back a little bit and reduces the seat travel then it is not a problem for me.

+1 for safety.

Couldn't agree with Surfergeek and Norm more. Putting it on the driver's side allows there to be a possibility for the tank coming loose and rolling around disrupting the driver.
