Manual steering rack? My guess is "not very."

This car is damn impressive, though.

I'm taking a guess you have never driven a car with a Flaming River manual rack? I put one in my last fox body and the thing drove and steered so nice it was like nothing changed.

Well it all comes back to "you don't know, what you don't know"

I'll ask it this way, could the car still be driven to the store or to pick up kids from school? Could you take it on a 30 mile cruise without it overheating or anythign? Does it buck and surge at all? I highly doubt the steering rack affected anything and probably the only reason it was used was to run the tubular k-member, maybe shed a few pounds also.

No, I'm a real man; I race my Mustang around corners. :moon:

(Just kidding, by the way.)

Why would you need to put a manual rack on a Coyote Mustang? It's got electric power steering, which means it doesn't lose any power from a power steering pump. Was this done to lose weight?

Well a kid :) It has a rear seat delete. I was amazed at how well it drove at low rpms and thru the pits at the track. It didn't buck or surge at all.

No one has a K-member for the '11 GT yet?
you can buy the BMR, and modify it. the rack hits the front cross bar on the passanger side and it needs a rear support added since the electric rack has 3 bolt locations. i just put it in our car this week. I'll take some pictures and put it up.

BMR is 1-2 months out they hope

al told me it's on the back burner last time i talked to him.

with so much other stuff going on, and whats needed for them to be comfortable with it on the road. it's not a priority.

i'm debating the manual rack with bmr k member myself.

i tt pete at mmff, he said they did the conversion and it was def noticable on the street as far as noise / etc..

just gotta decide how far to go

UPR is supposed to have theirs done in January.

PS,
What is needed for them to be comfortable?

It needs 3 mounting bolts for the EPS rack.

from what i understood their were durability issues on the new design.

bmr is pretty big on saftey and quality, i'm sure they could chime in better

A lot of good info, as well as bad info about our 2011+ K-Member in here. Please make a new thread, or PM me if you would like any info. It was on the backburner, because the prototype was on our 2011 Mustang this year, that raced a season in NMRA.

JPC, great job...I am still amazed at how quickly you were able to get one of these into the 9's, N/A!!! I love it.
