Never once in my life have I heard someone call someone else a ricer for having different camshafts in their vehicle.

Serious question, how is doing something for sound rather than performance ricey? I guess guys that buy different axlebacks are ricer? How is me spending $700 for cams any different than someone else spending $650 on Borla axlebacks? It's just for sound- right? I'm going to get more gains with Hot Rods than they will with the axlebacks.

Here's the deal - I'm not trying to be the fastest on the street. I'm not trying to get the best numbers. I just want a fun, enjoyable daily driver. Hot Rods and other NSR cams do that. They don't sacrifice driveability and they sound great. If I planned to go turbo down the line and wanted to make 500+ rwhp, sure, it's a bad choice. But I'm not. In fact, aside from LTs, I don't think theres anything else I'm even going to do to the car. As Dan said, you sound like you're an educated guy, but damn you come off as an ass.

It's your car and no one is going to tell you how you should mod your car so don't worry about it. The Hot Rod's sound great and you will love them paired with LT's and an offroad midpipe. I remember when I chose to cam my 07 back in the day. I went with the Mutha Thumpr NSR cams (link below) because I loved the way they sounded and I was able to get close to 345rwhp tuned. 6 months later the boost bug bit me and I slapped on a Procharger making crazy power and never changed the cams. Theres a difference between a car that is loud because it was modified to sound like it has more power than it does, and a car that is so powerful it can't help but be loud.

So the shorties that you have on you car are going to make more power with CAMS then a set of long tubes would ?

Bet you LED shift knob adds about 50hp too huh ? Rice much ? But that's my opinion .

Sounds like someone is burning the candle at both ends. Austin,I'm sure the car will sound ricey with the hot rods. Dougs car did and so did Chads......you should just sell it and save up some money for a real car with real HP mods so you can have this guys approval. How are they different?

Cams are intended to make more power. Axlebacks are not.

Cams that are installed just to make a different sound, with no additional power, are in the same category as an axleback.

Hot Rod Cams DO make more power. Therefore, not rice.

You'll like em' , they have a nice idle and they'll get you 18-20hp with a good tune,, with headers you should pickup close to 30.

Again like I said before I know I might be coming across as an asshole, but I wanted to suggest something for the lurker and noobs who might not like the idea of a sound cam.
Look into lunati and cms. I went for the cms's cause they maxed out the lift on the stock springs. But hey, it's just advice, fellas. You can do whatever the fuck you want to

How are they at the "expense" of performance if they make better numbers than stock. You said the CMS max out the stock springs at .470, right? The Hot Rods are also 12mm, or .472 inches.

You go back and forth in your argument. First you say you'll get power gains, now you're saying it's made for sound at the EXPENSE of performance.

Fact of the matter is in the same N/A car, same dyno, same conditions, I highly doubt your CMS cams would make more than 5-10rwhp more than the Hot Rods. IMO, the sound is worth the 5-10 potential hp - that's not ricer. Pulling a vacuum line to have a "lope" at idle is ricer.
