MCleod RST, RXT clutch

Are people using the stock flywheel with the rst and rxt clutch? Im getting different comments on "yes they can" be used with the stock flywheel. Then when i go to youtube a video show the clutch is smaller than oem and some of the clutch material wont make contact with the oem flywheels.

Not sure about the tst and rxt but when I went with the exeddy 500 clutch I also used their flywheel. I wouldnt use an oem flywheel.

Both statements are true. The mcleod twins were deigned for use with oem flywheels. For best fit and more surface area coverage get a 99-04 flywheel.

My RST was whisper quiet comapred to the ACT twin I have now. Not a fan of the metallic clutch discs will be going back to the rst with organic.

Yes, you can use stock, but I would recommend the McLeod lightened steel flywheel.

I'm currently using a Fidanza aluminum flywheel and the McLeod RST. I am just out of the break-in period for the clutch, and will agree that it's a little chatty at very low RPM, but that seems to be fading the more I wear the clutch in.

Overall, I'm very happy with it.

RST is a very good clutch. I would suggest getting the McLeod flywheel. The clutch will work with a stock or other flywheel but the front clutch won't engage all of the flywheel.

Here is a pic of my 10 spline RST after being used with a Fidanza flywheel. It still gripped fine but the edge would catch a little. It could be felt when letting the clutch out.

Here's a pic of the McLeod steel flywheel. Notice how much more inner surface area there is.

IMHO dont waste your money on the Mcleod one. When I had my clutch issues initialy after the 6060 swap I bought a mcleod flywheel to compare to my 99-04 fidanza billet steel flywheel the dimensions were identical. The Mcleod flywheel cost me $400 and the Fidanza was $150. I sold the mcleod and kept the fidanza.

Here is a pic of the fidanza. It's a 99-04 Billet steel one piece just like the mcleod is.

So the 99-04 flywheel fits the 05-09 3650 without any issues?

Yup. Mcleod's flywheel is actualy listed as being for 96-10.

What makles the oem 05+ flywheel different is the oem clutch size and engagement area.

Its a common swap to a 96/99+ style flywheel when using an a Mcleod clutch in out cars.

Where are you finding them for $150? My only concern is the mcleod clutch making full contact with the flywheel. Like the picture above I wouldnt want to spend that kind of money for a clutch adn have 1/4 of the inner part not contacting.

Like I mentioned any 99-04 flywheel will make full contact vice a 05+ specific flywheel.

I got it from lethal, at the time they were $131 plus shipping.

This is the aluminum version I mentioned running. I probably would have gone with something different, but this one was laying around the shop in the box, matched the 8 bolt pattern I needed and mine was toast, so I went with what was around.

Nope, hate it. It's a clunky pile of dog shit, as is their customer service. It's only in my car right now because my Ram Street Dual Disc Force 9.5 only lasted fuckin 5000 miles with zero track launches, and I needed something to put in quickly. I had the whole RXT setup for sale for $500 shipped, and nobody wanted it. Can't blame them; this thing will go back to being a $1500 paperweight as soon as I can get something else.

Eh? Are you sure you had it installed correctly? My chatter is completely gone after less than 500 miles. I've heard that they're a bitch to install and get everything aligned correctly- so perhaps it's something to do with the install?

I just think it's odd that there are so many people running them and talking about great results.

Yes, it's been looked at, uninstalled, and reinstalled by more "experts" than I care to mention.
