Good question do you need some kinda of vented cap so you dont create vac in the tank as fuel goes down?

Hey guys I was just reading threw this thread fill free to chim in if you can help my car since I did my bulid smells like gas fumes in side the car and wanted to know if the evap system had any thing to do with it

Gutted the trunk yet?

There are also 2 child seat anchor bars behind the back seat you can unbolt, thats like 2 lbs weight savings too! lol

Stock cap is check valved so it can suck air in but no leaks out so it gets pressurized, a pressure transducer gets that info to the pcm and then the pcm duty cycles the purge valve to relieve that pressure by calibrated amounts at certain engine conditions.

The thing is this, If I am not wrong, when you put a vent into the filler neck but do not change the cap you basically had not changed a thing.

yes, the fumes will build up and get into the cabin. When i did mine i ran a hose off the vent to the rear muffler area just around the top of the tip so you can see it, i also reused the small foam filter to keep anything from coming back into the tank from that vent hose. all has been well.
