I'd say why not go for that 5.8 tho!

And at some point it is all just theory anyway. The HP numbers we are talking about here (north of 750) are just ridiculous for a street car. Now if your car is set up to go straight like 05stroker and stkjock and you are running drag radials they will get your blood pumping, but they will pretty much go straight. My 2007 on the other hand with a roadrace suspension (not some piddly bolt on crap either) and roadrace rubber (still wide as a mofo, but not DR’s) is ALL OVER THE ROAD! I kid you not when I say at 100mph you are still working on keeping the car going straight. If you’re not careful it will swap ends and bite you.

If I was smart I would leave my combo the way it is (pump gas, 20psi, wimpy cams and a worn out motor) and just drive the car. But I’m not smart. I’m building a dedicated e85 fuel system, building a fresh motor with bigger heads and cams and turning the boost all the way up until I have to worry about lifting heads. The car will probably make 300-400hp more……and be completely useless.

Knowingly building a car you know is going to be useless and or blows up?
You must be balling out of control.

well they were not made when I got mine. When I asked L&M about boring mine out, he said it didn't make sense.

There is no replacement for displacement.
It's what I did.

Because those blocks have the same issues that the Coyote ones do (at a higher HP). They don't hold up like the 5.4L blocks do, especially the iron ones.

It's always something.

If I could go back to August 2006 I would have paid the over sticker asking price for a GT500 (I refused to at the time) and started there. I would be into the car for less money and a lot less time at this point.

But I never do the smart thing.

I wouldn't pay over either, however, instead of taking my 3V to the next level, I got the Shelby and sold it the 3V.

I was all ready to buy a white 2009 GT500 just like yours in late 2008 (if I remember correctly) for $1000 under retail. I took a look at de-modding my 3v or selling it as is and getting the GT500 decided not too. I was pretty far into modding the 3v already (blower, forged motor, built rear end, good suspension, big brakes, expensive seats, etc) and decided not to. My second "not getting a GT500 mistake". I won't be doing that again.

The wife will be getting a S550 GT Coupe as a DD and I'm waiting on the SVT/GT350 S550.

I'm going to keep the 07 (can't sell it now) and keep the 2012 Vert with a few choice mods (blower, wheels, some suspension, roll bar, etc) and drive the crap out of it on nice days.

I regret selling my Terminator and a few of my motorcycles every day. I'm starting to treat cars like guns. You never sell them, you just buy more.

I'd better be in my new house with the bigger shop/garage by then.:omfg:

I've been in motorsports of some sort for 17yrs now. I've made pretty good money at points, then blew it all on racing or bad business choices. Right now I'm working on getting another motorsports based biz up and running to where it makes money. It's not as easy as it was 10yrs ago. I fly under the radar pretty good though. I have really low overhead, I still do really good paying suspension work when I need a few extra bucks. I don't live high on the hog. My house is pretty modest. No kids. The wife has a good career. I don't have any debt.

I spend money on stuff I really enjoy (going fast). I live pretty cheap aside from that though. No big TV's, no expensive clothes, no big dollar watches, don't eat out much, don't travel much, don't shoot as much as I should be, don't go to the movies, etc.

I'm certainly no baller, wish I was. I'm always "broke". And keep in mind where my 2007 would take $80-100K to re-create (labor is hard to factor, that's not all parts) I did that over 7.5yrs (I had a blower on the car August 2006). It's really not that much money per year.

I was not that deep into my 06GT that it didn't make sense to make the jump, yea I took a loss on it, but that's not why you mod these cars

Having kids seems very rewarding, at least from the outside looking in, I really have no idea. I’m sure it’s one of the “the grass is always greener” things. It’s probably a lot like being self employed. Rewarding, but it keeps you up at night.

Not very many people in the real world get to have their cake and eat it too across the board. I don't know anyone who does.

Gulp!:omfg:

And I think I spend a lot on vet bills and dog food! I retract that thought.

You get to have someone to spoon feed you gerber and change your diapers when you're a cranky old 85 year old who can't remember what year it is any more.

I'll never make it to 85.

That said I didn't think I would make it to 40.

I need to start racing again. Speed the process back up.:thumb2:
