Well, I sold my '87 fox and just payed down or payed off most of my bills and it feels damn good. On the bright side of it, no bills for a month, but due to an unfortunate blown motor mishap, I will be dishing out some good money for a new motor (see "Different motor ideas" for more info). With that said, I really don't want to once again, spend a ton of $$ on labor to have the motor taken out and put back in. So, my friend Danny and I tackled the project. Unfortunately, I am still waiting on the new motor, but I want to take this one out and sell what is salvageable off of it first. Once I have done that, I'll be able to buy some other needed parts that I can put in while the car is down. Anyway, within 1 1/2 hour's of working and goofing around, this is where we are:

Oh yea, we knew we forgetting something, so we went to Harbor Freight Tools and picked up a box full of parts...what the hell is this?!

Doing a motor swap is VERY straight forward if it's just another 4.6 I swapped out my auto sixer for an standard tranny/V8 and it was pretty damn easy and I'm 22. Good Luck with everything! Progress pics are a must!

I'm 21 and my friend is 28 and have everything going pretty well so far. Today we are going to get the motor out of the car, and I'll going to start taking it apart and seeing what goods I can sell off of it. And yes, I will get more pictures!

Definitely looks like fun. I wanna do a 5.4 3v swap later. GL

Don't get me started. That's exactly what I'm looking into doing, and someone is willing to help me out on a motor for an 08 gt500 motor, but I'm trying to figure out what else is needed for that to be swapped in. Any ideas?

So today, the motor came out. Everything went well and here are some pics!

After getting the block safely out, we went around the block and found the hole... :(

Taking off the oil pan wasn't so much fun either. We found out what happened:

Now, to find a replacement.

Nice, like said before the motor swap is pretty easy. Once you find a new motor you will have it back up and running in no time.

FYI There's someone in the Mustang Parts section selling a COMPLETE 4.6 for 1500 I believe. I am no way affiliated with that person I just saw the post and its a great deal!

I'm awaiting PM's from a couple of people, but I'll go look for it. Thanks for the help!

Keeping the blower I presume? I'd get the tranny as well. 3650 would be destroyed by the gt500 motor haha. Not sure about the rest. Maybe the PCM, Computer, fuel system.

Sold the blower :( Money wise, it just isn't going to cut it for me. It's just going to put me into a hole and take forever to get out. It sounds like a future project now!

I was bored yesterday and decided to go into the garage and mess around with some small things until my friend comes to help put it on the engine stand.

I took off the valve covers and figured I'd take a look around to see if any damage happened below.

I saw what looked to be some pieces stuck in a corner, so I pulled them out and checked. This is what I found:

I have no idea what they are called, but I did find what the broken piece is from:

There are cracks and chips on 3 of the pillars, as you can see in this picture. Not sure how it happened, but maybe someone could explain!
