A TR6060 is a great option. Not only does it have a strong input shaft it also has bigger gears and syncros. Once you get a 26 spline input shaft on a 3650 the next weak link is 3rd gear.

A used 6060 from a GT500 isn't terribly expensive if you shop around. I paid $2k for mine and I paid far too much. Live and learn.

All that's needed is the 6060, a shifter, shifter pins, clutch (same clutch you would need for a 26 spline input shaft), transmission mount, and maybe a drive shaft. I was able to keep the dynotech ds I had used with the 3650, it fit just fine with a 6060. Another good ds option is a used GT500 ds. I'm currently running one of those that was under $125 shipped. It's plenty strong.

The 6060 is a much better shifting transmission than the 3650. The remote shifter gets blamed for shifting woes with the 3650 but the same remote design is head and shoulders better in the 6060. IMO the remote shifter isn't the big problem with a 3650, it's the gears and synchronizers.

The 6060 also allows you to run lower rear gears and still keep decent highway rpms because of the od 5th and 6th gears. Up to 2008 5th was .80 and 6th .63. From 2009+ 5th is .73 and 6th is .50. This means that a 4.10 rear gear will have a final ratio of 2.58 with the 2008 transmission and 2.05 with the 2009+.

The last time I knew of someone buying a used GT500 TR6060 from LaPointe Auto Recyclers they were able to get it for $1300. They had to call and talk to someone for that price.

D&D has new ones for $2K.

Wish I would have known about DOB before buying the KB, could have saved a couple thousand.

Haven't bought a single thing for this swap yet, and the projected cost has almost doubled LMAO.

I'm guessing that D&D bought Tremec overruns or Ford is already selling off surplus. Just a guess.
Yeah, Donny is savvy like that. And he has the working capital to pull it off. IDK how many he bought, but I would guess it's all of them.

Once you're spinning 18,000rpm out of that blower it's done and there is no more and no more to get without doing very involved fab work.



The first blower I had on my blue car in 06' was the KB 2.6. It's horribly inlet restricted so it will never get enough air into it to get air out. It has a 93mm MAF, 93ish mm inlet tube and the blower elbow is HORRIBLY restrictive. Short of scratch building everything from the blower case to the air filer but bigger, a huge undertaking, it won't make more power. I have seen one person do this and it picked up just over 100hp though.



The second problem is the intercooler is terrible and no matter what you throw at it for a pump and heat exchanger it runs real hot. Which kills power.



I decided to pull the blower. I have the ability to mod all that stuff in house "for free" and it still wasn't worth it. I sold the entire thing as a kit and went another direction.



I know that sounds like a big move but if you were to sell yours and replace it with one of my GT450 manifolds with a 13' GT500 TVS on your combo you could probably make 725-750rwhp on 93 without much trouble. I would be shocked if you can get more than 615rwhp out of that KB. And the KB will never run as cool as the GT450. You would be WAY out ahead making the switch. In the end it would still cost you a couple grand. But a couple grans for a cool running combo with an extra 100-140rwhp is cheap. Hell, a couple grand is what a lot of people spend just to get things to run cool. Never mind the HP.



Can you use a 13/14 TVS with 3V heads? I am in the same spot. I have a built 302 and contemplate ditching the 2.6KB when I finally swap the motor in. The motor will handle 800+ and I already have the 13/14 heat enhancer and pump to cool it down. I was thinking Whipple 2.9 , but these TVS blowers seem to kill it with porting etc ...

Yeah, the GT450 manifold and the 13' TVS work. Planza (I can't remember his exact screen name) on this board has this combo. When he first put it together at 18,000rpm it made so thing like 23psi which WAY too much on pump gas. He dropped the boost to 16 or so and it makes a little over 600 I think.

That's a real stout blower for a 2.3L even unported. It will stomp out way more boost than 93 will handle. From what I have seen of GT500's I'll bet that blower makes 800 on e85. If not a little more.

You will love the 326 and I have the phase 3 heads as well and with a 3' pulley make 575rwhp and to me it's a beast.

I agree that 575 is great real world power. The biggest problem I had with the KB is that you only got that for one hit then it was a smoldering pile of slow goo unless you let it cool down.

I totally agree with this, I have a dyno sheet with a cool motor run and a couple heat soaked runs after driving it around the block. Ill get a pic if I can find it.

Full Cooldown: 476whp 412 ft/lbs MAX boost 8.7

Heat Soaked 1: 443/393 boost 8.8

5 minutes later: 452/390 boost 8.5

Torque numbers are complete garbage. I need new everything.

Makes for a poor road course powerplant.
Thats on 91 octane, so it is what it is, I guess.

I love driving my car around, I like racing it, but it's frustrating having a motor and tranny that can handle twice the horsepower and not be able to deliver.

In the next year or so I'll be swapping it out to some turbo system and making bigger power.

It gets even worse as the boost goes up. I've run 20psi out of mine and the power would go right in the toilet after one hit. I did a track day like that. I had a pretty whammie jammie heat exchanger/pump setup (all custom and huge). I had to manage IAT's down the straights by "coasting" and I was still seeing 175-200deg IAT's. I swear it was making 400hp.

This really was a huge issue for me. I can't understand how people will cut a company like KB all the slack in the world. If they bought a new Mustang GT and it was short on advertised power then it lost 75-100hp after the first run they would be lemon law-ing the crap out of it and bitching 24/7. Hell, there would be a class action lawsuit.
