New numbers...?

I realize dyno numbers don't mean much but when I did 490 wheel, on 13 psi with a stock block and not even 75% of the mods, and my numbers are 40 wheel less, its disappointing. I should be at at least 500 with this setup. I still have the nitrous but I only want to use that on the race gas tune.

I guess we will see what happens with the mafia. I will probably step down from the 3.1 pulley to a 2.75 and get a 90 mm idler pulley and see whee that puts me.

Could I just not be making enough boost for the engine to run efficiently and how its supposed to?

also, you guys have to realize that a centri puts down more HP on lower boost than a twin screw. Where you guys have us is in torque. 10PSI with a KB would probably net you around 430-450whp. However, like I said earlier, with a built motor at 9.8 compression ratio, 13PSI boost, and full bolt-ons, I would expect way over 500whp...I dont care how much of a dyno queen you may or may not be; that would raise a cause for concern.

Sounds to me like since Ken left MD they're a bit apprehensive about dynotuning. I'd definitely shitcan the MAFia and get a BA5000 on there. I'm betting they are being VERY stingy with the timing and it's probably a bit on the fat side too.

The shortblock was a 9.8:1 compression, 298" stroker from Probe.

Not having a MAFia and pegging you're MAF could definitely sway the numbers...What was the A/F? Timing? Are they being ulta safe? What kind of dyno? Anyone you know with similar set-up thats uses that same dyno? Dont get caught up in the dyno numbers comparison. Some guys say they have 400 whp, and some guys with thw same set-up say they have 500 whp..I would take it to the track and see where you're mph is..

On another dyno it could be 50 whp more.

I personally don't believe the 500 whp @ 10 psi a lot of guys get on the stock engine with a simple blower setup, so I think it's an erroneous benchmark. The timeslips just don't back it up.

It took 18 psi with a 2.3 whipple for PSRacer to hit 600 whp and those numbers were backed up by fast timeslips.

Same questions I have Steedman. I don't think anyone is getting caught up in "dyno numbers" or trying to be a "dyno queen". A dyno is just that, a measuring device to help tune and get optimal performance. From what the OP has stated he LOST 40 HP after installing a built motor, P&P Fox Lake heads and big cams with the same blower setup. I assume he is on the same dyno as well. So that would be apples to apple. (We are not comparing dyno jets, to mustang dynos or dyno dynamics and vise versa)

But I have seen stock KB's dynoed AT Mod Depot and they usually put down similar to what the OP put down with all his additional work (around 450). I lived in Ohio for my first 20 years of my life so I remember when Mod Depot started and I have dealt with them in the past in my T-Bird days.

I think SD maybe on to something with the "Tuning".

Vapour, I assume you are regarding to me when you say the 500hp at 10psi and you don't buy it. Like Mac was explaining, centri's have totally different power bands than a PD type blower. The 500rwhp that I made was at 6200rpm's and it took all 6200rpms to get to that number. It also produced only 449 tq. It's all at high rpm power with centri's. I don't have timeslips yet but I will soon. Just need some damn tires, $$$.

And.....well....you know.....that is a PUMP GAS tune. Some people like to err on the side of caution. Possibly a bit too much on that side but............

I'll see how much timing is in there and what the A/F ratio is. I do want to get a smaller pulley though, have say maybe 18 psi of boost instead of 13. Also, he said the IAT's were reading high, between 140 and 170. Intercooler pump is making a noise so it may not be working right.

Hopefully we can get some better numbers goin here soon

I am sure you have thought this, but I wouldnt do a pulley swap for more PSI until they had this setup in the right neighborhood. Just my opinion.

If you're IAT's are that high on the dyno, then it is definitely pulling timing, imo..

That's what I'm thinking... ill see what's up with the timing before I bet a pulley but I'm def getting a new intercooler pump. Sounds like my coolant isn't flowing... svt lightning pump, $115, or go with something else?

Got some numbers from Modular Depot today. On an unfinalized tune, I made 450 rwhp on 13 psi from my 2.4 kb. Quick list of big mods are Probe 298 cu. In stroker from SD, ported heads by Fox Lake, comp 127500 cams, Bassani LTs with no cats and x, 8 rib kit, IW 10% overdrive pulley, all on pump gas.
I made 481RWHP with stock block, heads, cams, exhaust and a 2.3 whipple at 10psi.

Than, I made 642 RWHP with a 298Ci, Livernois Stage 3 heads, Livernois stage 3 cams, and 15PSI... on 92 octane

Something isn't right. I also got rid of my Mafia and bought a VMP HPX, much better than tuning with the Mafia.

Wasn't really directed at either of you. Anyway, it's not that I don't believe you have a piece of paper that says X whp, it's that I don't believe the that piece of paper is accurate. In other words, the dyno is giving inflated numbers.

500 whp is approximately 585 crank hp. You don't go from 300 chp to 588 chp with a pressure ratio of 1.68.

Damn, those are some good numbers! That's kinda what I was hoping for, but I was going to be happy with 550-575 wheel on pump gas (I didn't want to take it over 600 wheel on pump).

The belt tensioner is off by a little also, so I'm wondering if that is maybe causing my boost to be off by one or two psi.

And Modular Depot recommended I get the MAFia, so I'm not sure what to do

I guess I don't understand why they won't give you any info on the tune or your car. Not sure if I would let them do anymore with my car if they wouldn't answer any of my questions. I'd be pulling it out and bringing it to someone else who has customer service.
